Rock Legend Dies at 74 After Tragic Health Battle

Rock music has lost a legend. One of KISS’ most iconic members, Ace Frehley, has died at the age of 74.

His devastated family confirmed the news in an emotional statement, describing his passing as “beyond comprehension.”

They revealed he spent his final moments surrounded by loved ones, prayers, and words of comfort.

“We cherish his laughter, memories, and strengths,” the statement read. “His legacy will continue to live on forever.”

The official cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but fans knew he had been struggling in recent weeks.

Recent Health Crisis

Back in late September, the guitarist suffered what was described as a “minor fall” at his home studio.

Doctors ordered him to cancel several live shows while he recovered, despite his reluctance to stop touring.

At the time, his team told fans he was expected to bounce back and continue working on Origins Vol. 4.

But behind the scenes, his health reportedly declined. Music journalist Mitch Lafon posted a farewell message, alarming fans worldwide.

Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan also paid tribute, writing “Godspeed” in a cryptic post before confirmation of his death.

Reports later revealed he had been placed on life support and was on a ventilator in recent weeks.

On October 6, his Instagram announced the cancellation of the remainder of his 2025 tour dates.

By then, followers feared the worst.

Life as the Coolest Member of KISS

The New York-born rocker first found fame in the early 1970s as the lead guitarist of KISS.

Known for his signature “Spaceman” persona, he quickly became a fan favourite for his style and charisma.

“When I play guitar onstage, it’s like making love,” he told Rolling Stone in 1976.

“If you’re good, you get off every time,” he added.

But the fame came with a darker side.

In a 2015 interview, he admitted cocaine and alcohol played a huge role in his career.

“There was so much coke in the studio, it was insane,” he recalled. “I’d drink more, stay awake longer.”

He admitted the hard-partying lifestyle often left him hungover or missing studio sessions completely.

Even so, fans adored his rebellious energy and unique sound, which helped define KISS’ global success.

Fans and Fellow Musicians Mourn

Tributes have poured in since news of his passing broke.

Fans called him “the coolest KISS member” and thanked him for inspiring generations of musicians.

Friends remembered him as both a rockstar and a kind, funny soul who always brought laughter into the room.

His influence stretched across decades, shaping the sound and attitude of modern rock music.

Tragedy Strikes Twice for KISS Family

The sad news of his passing came only days after another scare for KISS fans.

Frontman Gene Simmons, 76, was involved in a car accident on California’s Pacific Coast Highway.

Reports said Simmons’ car veered across several lanes before hitting a parked vehicle around 1 p.m.

A witness called 911, and Simmons was taken to hospital for treatment.

He later told fans he had fainted behind the wheel due to a change in his medication.

His wife, Shannon, confirmed doctors had recently adjusted his prescriptions, which may have caused the episode.

Thankfully, Simmons reassured everyone he was “completely fine” and recovering at home.

In a voice message, he even joked about being a “horrible driver.”

“Thanks for the kind wishes,” he later posted on X. “It was a slight fender bender. All is well.”

Simmons’ Ongoing Health Struggles

Simmons has been open about his health over the years.

He’s lived with atrial fibrillation, also known as AFib, since the mid-2000s.

The heart condition can cause dizziness, fatigue, and shortness of breath, and it increases stroke risk if untreated.

In 2016, he shared on The Doctors how he first discovered the issue during a live tour.

“I got dizzy, started sweating, and couldn’t catch my breath under the stage lights,” Simmons explained.

Doctors diagnosed him with AFib and warned him about its long-term risks.

Despite the health challenges, Simmons has remained active and continued performing for millions of fans.

A Lasting Legacy

With one KISS legend now gone and another facing health scares, fans are reflecting on the band’s lasting impact.

From outrageous makeup to explosive stage shows, KISS defined rock theatre like few others.

The late guitarist’s riffs, solos, and persona gave the group its iconic edge.

Even through the controversies and chaos, his influence on rock is impossible to overstate.

As his family put it, the “magnitude of his passing” is beyond words.

But his memory, his music, and his wild spirit will live forever.
