NFL Considering Hosting Super Bowl In London

The NFL is toying with the idea of hosting a Super Bowl in London, according to Commissioner Roger Goodell.

While speaking at a fan forum in the British capital, Goodell acknowledged that the concept has been a topic of conversation, although it’s not in the immediate pipeline. ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who broke the news, pointed out that the league’s current focus is on cities within the United States for the Super Bowl.

Insiders around the league have hinted that a London Super Bowl could be a possibility down the line, but it’s far from a done deal. The venues for the next three Super Bowls have already been decided: Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for February 2024, Caesars Superdome in New Orleans for February 2025, and Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California for February 2026.

The idea of a London Super Bowl hasn’t gained significant momentum yet, but one league source told Schefter that it “would make sense.” The NFL has been making concerted efforts to globalize the sport, and Goodell has been at the forefront of this push.

While the idea might not sit well with most NFL fans who are used to the Super Bowl being a quintessentially American event, it’s clear that the league is keen on expanding its international footprint. The question remains whether the Super Bowl, one of the biggest sporting events in the U.S., will make its way across the pond in the foreseeable future.
