Meghan Markle has dropped a bombshell in her new Netflix show With Love, Meghan.
The former Suits actress, born Rachel Meghan Markle, says she now goes by a new name in everyday life.
She revealed the change during a chat with comedian Mindy Kaling, leaving fans stunned.
“You Know I’m Sussex Now”
Kaling kept calling her “Meghan Markle” on camera. But Meghan quickly clapped back.
“It’s so funny that you keep saying Meghan Markle,” she said. “You know I’m Sussex now.”

The duchess explained the name became more important after she had her two children, Archie and Lilibet.
“You have kids and you go, ‘No, I should share my name with my children,’” she added.
The update set social media on fire. Critics accused Meghan of wanting the royal name without the royal duties.
“You walked away from the honor of that gift, you can’t have it both ways,” one person fumed.
Another wrote: “What happened with the quiet life she wanted?”

But others leapt to her defense.
“They hate you, but they can’t stop talking about you,” one fan argued.
Another insisted: “The hate for Meghan Markle is ridiculous. No real reason to hate her.”
Why Sussex Matters to Her
Meghan and Prince Harry married in 2018, officially becoming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
They welcomed Archie in 2019 and daughter Lilibet in 2021.
In 2020, the couple shocked the world by stepping back from senior royal duties. Calls for their titles to be stripped soon followed.
But Meghan says Sussex isn’t just a title—it’s her family’s name.
In a recent People interview, she explained: “A huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex.”
She added: “I didn’t know how meaningful it would be, but it just means so much. It’s our little family name.”
