Kevin Hart Reveals He’s In A Wheelchair After Accident

Kevin Hart, renowned for his comedic prowess, recently found himself in a wheelchair following an unfortunate race against former NFL running back Stevan Ridley. The “Jumanji” star took to Instagram to share the humorous and cautionary tale of his mishap, underscoring the reality of aging and the consequences of pushing one’s physical limits.

In an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, the 44-year-old actor humorously revealed his predicament: “Guys, I blew all my s—t. Tore my lower abdomen, my abductors are torn — I don’t even know what that is, but I tore ’em. … I can’t walk!” Hart wryly added that he attempted some youthful antics but was promptly reminded of his age, remarking, “I tried to jump out there and do some young stuff … and I was told to sit my ass down.”

Hart’s injuries arose from a friendly “debate” with Stevan Ridley, a retired New England Patriots player, about their respective speeds. The discussion led to a 40-yard dash challenge, which turned awry for Hart. Reflecting on the situation, Hart questioned the wisdom of his decision, musing, “What are we competing for at this age? What am I doing? Why did I even race? Stupidest s—t ever! Now I can’t walk…”

In the same video, Hart offered a humorous public service announcement for those over the age of 40, advising them to “respect their age” and reassuring fans not to be alarmed if they spot him maneuvering around in a wheelchair. He humorously delivered the message, asserting, “Ladies and gentlemen, the age 40 is real. Respect that age or that age will make you respect it. I was just forced to respect it… Sit my ass down. This is 44.”

In the caption, Hart humorously referred to himself as the “dumbest man alive,” acknowledging the consequences of his impulsive challenge.

Celebrities flooded the comments section with well-wishes and playful remarks. Comedian Wanda Sykes humorously alluded to the challenges of aging, writing, “If 44 is kicking yo ass..wait til you hit 55…you might just disintegrate. Get well dummy!” Actor Will Smith chimed in, acknowledging the realities of getting older: “Getting older is REAL!! Heal Up, Kev!!” Singer Mario added a lighthearted jab, suggesting Hart needs to warm up properly before races: “You gotta warm up for about 10 minutes big fella!😂”

Retired basketball player Matt Barnes playfully teased Hart about his new wheels: “😂😂😂 that was a hell of a day. You need to put some spinners on your wheelchair 😂💀.” Actor Melvin Gregg playfully raised the pivotal question: “But did you win?”

This incident marks another chapter in Hart’s journey with injuries. Almost four years ago, in September 2019, he was involved in a near-fatal car accident that resulted in a fractured spine in three places. After a 10-day hospital stay, he continued his recovery in a live-in rehab center for physical therapy.
