Selena Gomez Sends Fans Wild with Clip Throwing Shade at Justin Bieber and Hailey

Selena Gomez ignited a whirlwind of speculation among fans as she shared a sassy video on Tuesday, with many asserting that it contained a veiled message for her former partner, Justin Bieber. In the video, the 31-year-old singer playfully mimicked an iconic scene from “Sex And The City,” where Samantha (Kim Cattrall) responds to a phone call from her married lover. As the male voice on the call utters the words, ‘It’s over, I told my wife,’ Selena mimed the witty retort, ‘Who is this?’

Although the clip was ostensibly shared to create buzz for her upcoming track, “Single Soon,” fans quickly interpreted it as a potential reference to Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber. Speculation flew as fans wrote comments like: ‘She’s hinting Justine and the wife’s divorce rumors’; ‘Did Justin call you recently?’; ‘I know Justin’s punching the wall and Hailey is reading the comments on this post! HI HAILEY’; ‘Is that what Justin said?’; ‘Sorry Bieber it’s too late [sic].’

In the video, Selena exuded confidence, donning a strapless orange top and oversized gold earrings. She has been dedicatedly promoting her new single, marking her return to the music scene since the release of “Revelación” in 2021.

Selena and Justin’s romantic journey spanned eight years, characterized by on-again, off-again phases. Their relationship reached its definitive conclusion in 2018. Justin proposed to Hailey just two months later; their history traces back to a brief fling in 2015.

The media and fans have historically pitted Selena and Hailey against each other, highlighting moments that hint at subtle tension between them. Reports of a ‘feud’ surfaced in March, with resurfaced footage showing Hailey playfully imitating Taylor Swift during her cohosting stint on “Drop The Mic.” In response, Selena commented, “So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game.” This interaction fueled online discussions, labeling Hailey as a ‘mean girl.’ She had also shared a TikTok video, featuring herself alongside Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye, set to an audio saying, ‘I’m not saying she deserves it, but I’m saying God’s timing is always right.’ This clip drew connections to the body-shaming and criticism Selena has faced lately.

Taking to TikTok, Selena seemingly addressed the drama, urging kindness and empathy. In a makeup tutorial video, she conveyed her gratitude and love for her followers, writing, ‘Thank you and love you all so much. I’m deeply grateful for each and every one of you humans. You make me unbelievably happy.’ A subsequent comment echoed her call for empathy: ‘Please, please be kinder and consider others’ mental health. My heart has been heavy and I only want good for everyone. All my love.’
