Jennifer Lawrence has been causing a stir with her recent comedic remarks ahead of her new movie, No Hard Feelings.
The actress, who stars in the film as a woman who seduces a socially awkward 19-year-old, has been cracking dirty jokes left and right at the CinemaCon.
Joined by director Gene Stupnitsky at the movie lovers’ trade show, the duo spoke about their highly anticipated comedy, which sees Lawrence’s character, Maddie, trying to seduce Percy, played by Andrew Barth Feldman, at the request of his parents.
The premise of the film elicited a joke from Lawrence, who teased Stupnitsky by saying, “And this is based on your life, right?”
To which Stupnitsky responded, “No, it’s actually based off a Craigslist ad.”
However, Lawrence continued with her humor, jokingly questioning Stupnitsky about his sexual history, asking, “But you were a virgin for, like, a crazy long time. You were 26?”
The film follows Maddie as she answers a couple’s bizarre Craigslist ad asking for someone to date their introverted 19-year-old son to get him out of his shell before he leaves for college.
However, as shown in the trailer, things don’t go quite as smoothly as planned.
In one scene, Maddie gets pepper-sprayed by Percy when he thinks she’s kidnapping him, and in another, she gets punched in the throat when Percy tries to defend her honor.
Despite the challenges, Lawrence’s character persists and tries to get Percy to come out of his shell by taking him skinny dipping, which leads to Maddie shouting, “Just get the f**k in here right now!” from the ocean.
No Hard Feelings features an all-star cast, including Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti as Percy’s parents, Natalie Morales, Hasan Minhaj, Kyle Mooney, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Scott MacArthur.
Lawrence’s humorous banter with Stupnitsky and her playful promotion of the movie has fans eagerly anticipating the film’s release on June 23, 2023.
