Jada Pinkett Smith’s popular Facebook Watch show, “Red Table Talk,” has been canceled by the social media giant.
The news was first reported by Deadline, which revealed that Facebook’s parent company, Meta, is shutting down their FB Watch originals, including the Daytime Emmy-winning talk show.
Despite its cancellation, Jada Pinkett Smith expressed her gratitude for the partnership with Facebook Watch.
She took to Instagram and said, “We are so grateful to have had such a beautiful partnership with Facebook Watch and we are sorry to see the entire team disband. We wish everyone well in their new journeys to come.”
However, she also stated that the Red Table Talk team is in talks to find a new home, which means fans may not have seen the last of the popular show. “We at Red Table are in talks of finding a new home, and we’ll see you soon,” Jada concluded.
“Red Table Talk” gained immense popularity since its launch in 2018, streaming 129 episodes over 5 seasons.
The show also amassed around 11 million followers on social media.
It featured Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith, and mother Adrienne “Gammy” Banfield-Norris, discussing various topics ranging from mental health to relationships.
Over the years, the show had some memorable and news-making interviews, including Jada’s confession about her “entanglement” with August Alsina and Jordyn Woods’ first sit-down since the drama with Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson. Jada also used the platform to address the moment her husband infamously slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
The series was produced by Westbrook Studios, co-founded by Jada and Will Smith.
Unfortunately, “Red Table Talk” was not the only show to get canceled, as Steve Harvey’s talk show “STEVE on Watch” also received the axe.
Despite the cancellation, fans are optimistic that the show will find a new home soon.
The show’s impact and popularity speak volumes about the need for honest and open conversations on various topics in today’s world. As Jada Pinkett Smith said, “We’ll see you soon.”
