Hollywood Actor Moves Elderly Neighbour Into His Apartment To Live Her Final Days

They might seem like an unlikely duo: a 31-year-old Hollywood actor and his 89-year-old neighbour. But Chris Salvatore and Norma Cook are inseparable.

“She always called me the grandson she never had,” Chris explained. And he now sees Norma as family — stubborn, sassy, but loving.

Recently though, Norma’s health took a serious hit. Battling leukemia, she spent two months in hospital fighting pneumonia and breathing problems.

Doctors warned she might not survive the holidays, but Norma is still here. Chris says she’s thriving: “She looks so cute sitting on my couch watching TV.”

Moving In Together After Hospital Stay

For years, Chris and Norma lived across the hall in a West Hollywood apartment building. They’d often wave through their kitchen windows.

After hospitalisation, doctors said Norma couldn’t live alone without 24-hour care. Insurance wouldn’t cover it, leaving her with no options but a facility.

Chris immediately set up a GoFundMe, raising over $50,000 to cover care. But savings dwindled, so he made a life-changing decision.

“I asked her to move in with me,” he explained. “She couldn’t have been happier. I was visiting most days anyway.”

Norma agreed — saying she’d never leave the complex she called home for 30 years. Chris’ apartment was her only choice.

Now the pair share a routine. “He cooks for me,” Norma laughed. “If he quits acting, he could be a chef.”

They drink Champagne, eat peanuts, and watch the news together most evenings. Chris even adopted her beloved cat, Hermes.

From Neighbours To Family

Chris first knocked on Norma’s door nearly five years ago, when she offered him Champagne. They bonded instantly and never looked back.

“She had lots of gay friends when she was younger,” Chris said. “As a gay man, she felt safe with me.”

He now calls moving her in “fate.” For him, caring for Norma feels natural: “It’s fulfilling to be there for her.”

Norma, who has no children, feels equally grateful: “He’s a really wonderful guy. I couldn’t have asked for better company.”

Their friendship shows that family isn’t always blood — sometimes it’s found across the hall, with Champagne and endless conversation.
