Elliot Page has shared a heartbreaking confession that’s left fans emotional and full of praise for his honesty.
The actor, who previously went by Ellen Page, came out as transgender in 2020 and began his transition soon after.
Since then, Page has been one of the loudest voices pushing for LGBTQ+ acceptance, constantly using his platform for good.
Recently, the Juno star was asked what advice he’d give his younger self, and his reply broke hearts online.
In his memoir Pageboy, the actor reflects on years of identity struggles and the shame that weighed on him.
He wrote: “Shame had been drilled into my bones since I was tiny. I fought hard to release it.”
The book also recalls deeply personal moments, including his first kiss with a girl, which changed everything for him.
Page described meeting Paula at 20: “She sat curled up on a couch eating almonds. She introduced herself gently.”
He added: “Her voice radiated kindness. Her eyes didn’t just shine – they found you. I felt truly seen.”
The two later went to Reflections, a gay bar. For Page, it was both a first and a last visit.
Years later, Page shared his emotional confession during a video for the American Civil Liberties Union’s Instagram account.
Fans Praise Actor’s Emotional Message
Fans flooded the comments, calling the message powerful and healing. “Such a role model,” wrote one. “Your truth saves lives.”
Another added: “What a peaceful, inspiring response. Thank you for being so open.”
In the video, Page revealed the words he’d give his younger self. “You know who you are. Embrace that.”
He explained further: “I always understood my truth. It was strong. But outside noise and pressure pulled me away from it.”
Page said the hardest part was realizing that pain never really belonged to him. “It was theirs, not mine.”
His message? Keep embracing yourself no matter what. “That’s the path to joy. That’s the only way forward.”
Fans have continued to praise Page’s honesty, calling him brave and thanking him for making them feel less alone.
