Actress Hilary Swank has shared the wonderful news of the birth of her twins – a boy and a girl – on her Instagram account.
The 48-year-old, who is married to Philip Schneider, posted a beautiful photograph of herself holding her newborns and admiring the sunset in the background.
She captioned the post with: “It wasn’t easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it. Happy Easter! Posting from pure heaven,” along with angel and heart emojis.
The post has been well received by both fans and fellow celebrities with over 100,000 likes and many congratulatory messages.
Actresses Viola Davis and Sharon Stone and Mariska Hargitay left their well wishes on the post.
Viola Davis commented: “Aaaaahhhh!!!!! Congratulations,” with three red heart emojis.
Sharon Stone wrote: “God bless honey This is the most extraordinary journey ever so happy for you all,” while Juliette Lewis added: “congrats beautiful strong mama and babes”.
Mariska Hargitay also commented: “Welcome home angels,” with a heart emoji.
Hilary announced her pregnancy last October, revealing that she was expecting twins after keeping it a secret for the first 12 weeks.
She later disclosed at the Golden Globe Awards in January that she had to reveal her pregnancy as she had to start secretly cutting the back of her trousers on set in order to fit into them.
Hilary, who has starred in films such as Million Dollar Baby and Freedom Writer, also shared that she knew she would have twins since she was a little girl. “Since I was a little girl, I was like, ‘I’m gonna have twins someday’,” she explained. “My grandmother is a twin. And my husband’s grandmother’s a twin. So it runs in the family. But I just always felt like I would. I didn’t know I was going to do it at 48, but here we are!”
She and Philip decided not to find out the genders of their babies before their birth and had multiple names ready.
When asked if she had thought of any names for her twins, Hilary replied: “We’re not finding out the gender until they pop out. So we have to have a couple of names each.”
Hilary and Philip, who is a businessman, tied the knot in August 2018 in a stunning outdoor ceremony in California. She had previously been married to actor Chad Lowe for 10 years before their divorce in 2007.
