Emily Ratajkowski has Quit Acting and Fire Her Team

Emily Ratajkowski, the 31-year-old model, actress and activist, has recently announced that she is quitting acting and has fired her team.

While her fans had been waiting for her next film since her last movie in 2019, Lying and Stealing, the announcement has still come as a surprise to many.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ratajkowski revealed that she was quitting acting because she found the film industry to be “f***** up”.

She spoke about her experience in Hollywood, saying that she felt objectified and judged. “I felt like a piece of meat who people were judging, saying, ‘Does she have anything else other than her [breasts]?’”, she said.

Despite appearing in numerous films, Ratajkowski never landed many lead roles and was largely left with supporting ones.

She continued to audition for lead roles, but unfortunately, she was not given many opportunities.

For instance, she auditioned for the lead role in the Oscar-nominated Triangle of Sadness but the part eventually went to the late Charlbi Dean.

However, Ratajkowski was not deterred by these setbacks and continued to pursue her acting career.

Yet, she was unhappy with the team that was behind her. She felt that she was making herself “digestible to powerful men in Hollywood” and eventually decided to fire her manager, commercial rep and acting agent in 2020.

“I didn’t trust them,” she said. “I was like, ‘I can handle receiving phone calls. I’m gonna make these decisions. None of you have my best interest at heart.’”

In fact, there was one particular incident at a WME party that was the final straw for the star.

She attended the party with her husband Sean Bear-McClard, and her husband’s agent allegedly told her that she was “like Pamela Anderson before the hep C”, while clearly drunk.

“Maybe that’s why right now I’m not really interested in men’s POVs,” she said.

Ratajkowski’s decision to quit acting has saddened her fans, but many have supported her decision. They believe that she deserves better treatment in Hollywood and that the industry needs to change.

“I’m excited to move on to new things,” Ratajkowski said. “I’m not putting a post-it note on my laptop saying I’m never going to act again. But I’m definitely not hustling for [acting] work anymore.”
