Bruce Springsteen, the iconic 73-year-old rock legend, has recently shared a deeply disheartening update regarding his health, which has necessitated the postponement of his tour dates.
On his official website, the 20-time Grammy Award winner revealed that he and his E Street Band will be rescheduling their upcoming performances due to his need for treatment related to peptic ulcer disease.
Peptic ulcer disease, according to the Mayo Clinic, involves the development of open sores on the inner lining of the stomach and the upper part of the small intestine. Common causes of this condition include infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and the long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB) and naproxen sodium (Aleve). Stress and the consumption of spicy foods can exacerbate symptoms.
Springsteen and the E Street Band commenced their 2023 tour on February 1 in Tampa, Florida, embarking on a journey that has taken them across North America and Europe, delighting fans at various stops along the way.
Scheduled performances in cities such as Syracuse, New York; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Washington, D.C.; Connecticut; and Ohio were anticipated by eager audiences. However, these shows will now be rescheduled for a later date, as ‘The Boss’ disclosed in a poignant statement shared on his social media platforms.
In his message, the ‘Born To Run’ singer expressed his profound disappointment: “Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows.” He went on to apologize to their dedicated Philadelphia fans, whom they had missed a few weeks earlier, promising to return to complete these performances and more. He concluded his message with gratitude for understanding and support and expressed eagerness for the upcoming shows.
Springsteen’s official website reassures ticket holders that they will receive information about the rescheduled dates for the postponed shows in due course.
This marks the third time this year that the ‘Born in the USA’ hitmaker has faced the unfortunate necessity of postponing concerts due to health issues. Earlier this year, three shows in March and two in August in Philadelphia were affected. Springsteen’s next scheduled tour date is set for November 3 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
Fans around the world are now sending their best wishes to Springsteen for a swift recovery. We join them in hoping that ‘The Boss’ will soon regain his health and return to the stage to continue sharing his legendary music with audiences everywhere.
