In a heartfelt video on Vogue’s YouTube page, Ariana Grande shared a candid look at her skincare and makeup routines.
During the video, the “7 Rings” singer opened up about her past experiences with cosmetic procedures, notably lip fillers and Botox, and the emotional journey she’s been on to embrace her natural beauty.
Grande, who is known for her stunning voice and iconic beauty, began by acknowledging her history with cosmetic enhancements. She revealed, “Full transparency, as a beauty person, as I do my lips, [I’ve] had a ton of lip filler over the years and Botox. I stopped in 2018 because I just felt so … [it was] too much. I just felt like hiding, you know.”
While discussing her beauty routine, Grande momentarily paused as she fought back tears. She candidly admitted, “I didn’t expect to get emotional.” She continued, “For a long time, beauty was about hiding for me, and now I feel like maybe it’s not since I stopped getting fillers and Botox.”
The emotional moment reflects Grande’s personal journey towards self-acceptance and embracing her natural appearance. She expressed that she is not opposed to the idea of getting cosmetic procedures again in the future, but for now, she wants to celebrate her “well-earned cry lines and smile lines.”
“[Aging] can be such a beautiful thing,” Grande noted. She left room for the possibility of considering a facelift in the future but emphasized the importance of discussing these choices openly. She stated, “Now might I get a facelift in 10 years? Might, yeah, but these are just thoughts that I feel like we should be able to discuss. If we’re sitting here talking about beauty secrets, f–k it, let’s lay it all out there.”
Grande also reflected on her journey in the entertainment industry, where she rose to fame at a young age. She shared how her relationship with beauty has evolved over time, especially in the face of public scrutiny. “Being exposed to so many voices at a young age, and especially when people have, like, things to say about your appearance and stuff at a young age, it’s really hard to know what’s worth hearing and not,” she explained.
The R.E.M. Beauty founder acknowledged that she used makeup as a form of disguise and a shield from judgment. She mentioned using “more and more hair” and “thicker” eyeliner as a way to cope with the pressure of the industry. However, as she has grown older, her perspective on beauty has shifted.
“As I get older, I don’t love that being the intention behind it anymore,” Grande said. “I think of it as self-expression now and accentuating what is here. Our relationships to beauty are so personal. Like, we’re here talking about beauty secrets. Isn’t the secret that we all just wanna feel our best and be loved?”
Grande’s openness about her experiences with cosmetic procedures and her journey to self-acceptance sends a powerful message about embracing one’s natural beauty and challenging societal expectations. It’s a reminder that beauty is deeply personal and that feeling confident and loved is what truly matters.
In addition to this candid revelation, Ariana Grande recently poked fun at her past makeup looks in a TikTok video where she playfully applied heavy black eyeliner, showing how her beauty preferences have evolved over time.
