Excitement is soaring on social media as Ryan Reynolds shares the first image of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, delighting fans across the globe.
Reynolds initially surprised fans last year when he announced that Jackman would be reprising his role as Wolverine for the third installment of the franchise.
Jackman had previously hinted that he was done with the character after his appearance in 2017’s Logan, where Wolverine met his demise.
Reynolds took to his Instagram story to unveil the sneak peek of Jackman as Wolverine on the set of Deadpool 3. The image features Reynolds donning his signature red Deadpool suit, complete with the mask. Standing beside him is Jackman, sporting the bright yellow Wolverine outfit, albeit without the mask or claws.
With a caption that reads, “Don’t blink,” Reynolds has ignited a frenzy on social media, as fans eagerly anticipate the iconic duo and on-screen enemies joining forces for the highly-anticipated third Deadpool film.
Twitter exploded with enthusiastic reactions, as one user exclaimed, “This is sooo hard.” Another comment read, “The mad lads! They finally did it! They finally got Hugh Jackman in the OG Wolverine suit… now if only they could get the mask.” A third fan chimed in, “The suit looks perfect! Can’t wait for the mask reveal.” And a fourth delighted follower simply exclaimed, “WE WONNNN.”
Prior to his decision to reprise the role of Wolverine, Jackman revealed to Variety in October of last year that it took some convincing on Reynolds’ part. The 54-year-old actor jokingly mentioned that Reynolds had been persistently asking him for three years to join the project, with Reynolds even meeting with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige after Disney acquired Fox.
Jackman shared, “I think, actually, he’d given up. I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, ‘I can’t believe the timing of this.’”
Reynolds expressed his excitement at having Jackman join the third Deadpool film, stating, “It’s like old home week. To get to be on set with one of my closest friends each and every day is a dream come true. But to do it with these two iconic characters side by side, that’s beyond our wildest dreams.”
The release of the first images featuring Reynolds as Deadpool and Jackman as Wolverine has left fans craving for more. Reynolds dropped the photograph on his Instagram story, leaving fans eagerly anticipating a trailer or further teasers.
As one enthusiastic fan of the franchise aptly put it, “THEY COULDN’T WAIT UNTIL THE TRAILER [multiple crying emojis].”
Despite a few changes to its release date, the latest update suggests that Deadpool 3 is set to premiere on May 4, 2024, much to the delight of eager fans eagerly awaiting the epic reunion of Deadpool and Wolverine on the big screen.
