These messages were shared by West’s friend, Ian Connor, on Instagram. The texts also included West’s remarks about his relationship with Musk and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
The texts, posted early Wednesday, began with West reaching out to Musk, acknowledging that Musk owes him nothing, and emphasizing that he is not bipolar. West mentioned his car accident in 2002, which resulted in the hit song “Through the Wire” where he rapped with his jaw wired shut. He claimed that this accident led to signs of autism. West had previously revealed his bipolar diagnosis in 2018 but later stated on Twitter that he had been “mentally misdiagnosed.”
West’s text messages took a more personal turn when he alluded to his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and his concerns about his children. He claimed that he can’t bear to see Kim keeping their kids away from him. It’s worth noting that West and Kardashian share four children from their previous marriage.
The rapper concluded his messages by critiquing Musk for describing him as a “friend” only to benefit from West’s audience and promote his own social media platform. West referred to Twitter as a “struggling platform.”
Ian Connor, a stylist and West’s friend, was enlisted to share these text messages with the public, as West had been banned from Twitter due to a series of controversial posts, including some containing antisemitic content.
Despite the recent controversy, West has been quite busy lately, notably packing on public displays of affection with his wife, Bianca Censori, in Europe. Although West accused Kim Kardashian of keeping their children away from him, he was photographed with his son Saint at a soccer game in Italy just a few weeks ago. The father and son watched the game from a luxury box, with West occasionally seen texting on his phone during the match.
