However, even the world’s most subscribed YouTuber occasionally encounters moments of uncertainty, as evidenced by his latest stunt, which he fears might lead him to “go broke.”
With a staggering net worth estimated at $54 million, according to Forbes, MrBeast has engaged in countless high-budget endeavors. Yet, it appears that his latest project has him questioning his financial acumen. Rather than undertaking audacious challenges like curing deafness or orchestrating a multi-generational battle for a $1 million prize, MrBeast embarked on a seemingly straightforward concept: he allowed an individual to live in a grocery store. The twist? He promised to pay this individual $10,000 for each day they could endure this unique living situation.
MrBeast took to Twitter to confess his apprehensions about this endeavor, stating, “I messed up… I bought a random grocery store and told a random person I’d give him $10,000 every day he lives in it, and it’s been weeks, and he shows no signs of ever leaving. I’m gonna go broke.”
As fans began calculating the mounting debt MrBeast owed to the individual in question, he disclosed that it had been over a month since the experiment began. Consequently, the sum had likely exceeded $300,000, a considerable figure by any standard.
Furthermore, MrBeast clarified that the grocery store was no longer operating as a conventional shop. He had taken measures to ensure the individual’s comfort and privacy, such as blacking out the windows and locking the premises.
In a humorous exchange with a follower who referenced YouTuber MatPat’s video claiming that someone could survive up to 60 years locked in a grocery store, MrBeast replied with a simple “Oh boy.”
Should the individual in MrBeast’s experiment opt for the extreme path, the sum owed could reach a staggering $219 million. However, the catch is that they would need to spend six decades confined to the grocery store’s premises, a prospect that may not necessarily be considered a victory.
Intriguingly, the fascination with the notion of living in a grocery store is not exclusive to YouTubers and content creators.
Scientists have also explored this concept, with UK academic Dr. Lewis Dartnell concluding that an adult could potentially survive for 55 years within a grocery store in the event of an apocalypse or negligent shop owners.
