Melania Trump ‘quietly’ renegotiated prenup with Donald ahead of potential second presidential term

Melania Trump has reportedly taken discreet steps to renegotiate her prenuptial agreement with former President Donald Trump, a move made in anticipation of his potential return to the White House and mounting legal challenges, according to sources close to the situation.

Sources have revealed that Melania Trump and Donald Trump, who tied the knot in 2005, have been quietly working on a new “postnup” agreement over the past year. While this isn’t the first time Melania has revisited the terms of their marital contract, the motive behind this latest revision appears to be her paramount concern for the welfare of their 17-year-old son, Barron.

An insider familiar with Melania’s perspective shared, “Melania is most concerned about maintaining and increasing a substantial trust for their son, Barron.” The new agreement encompasses various aspects, including financial assets and property.

Another source shed light on Melania’s financial motivations, stating, “I know that she wanted it to provide her with more money, and also — from what I understand — there’s a specific amount at minimum that Barron is supposed to obtain.”

The timing of this renegotiation appears to be driven not only by the prospect of a second presidential term for Donald Trump but also by his recent legal entanglements. The source explained, “This agreement was necessary because of the current legal battles… [Donald] has suffered,” alluding to potential financial obligations stemming from lawsuits such as the $250 million civil case filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James and the $5 million defamation case brought by E. Jean Carroll. Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty in the former case and is appealing the latter.

The renegotiated prenup is seen as a means to secure Melania and Barron’s financial future, especially in light of the mounting legal expenses and potential judgments. However, it’s emphasized that Melania did not issue ultimatums or threats to leave Donald. Rather, the renegotiation is considered a prudent precaution.

This isn’t the first time rumors of Melania’s prenuptial renegotiation have circulated. Previously, her former spokesperson dismissed such claims as “fiction,” only to later write a book about Melania, which Melania’s team criticized as containing “mistruth and betrayal.”

In the 2020 book “The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump” by Washington Post writer Mary Jordan, it was alleged that Melania had already renegotiated the prenup in 2017, coinciding with her delay in moving from Manhattan to the White House. The book suggested that Melania sought written assurance that Barron would be treated as an equal to Donald’s older children, Eric, Ivanka, and Don Jr., in matters of financial opportunities and inheritance.

However, Melania’s office, at the time led by her former chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, rebuked the book’s claims. Ironically, Grisham herself released a tell-all book about Melania in 2021 after resigning, drawing criticism from Melania’s camp.

Despite the controversies surrounding her, Melania Trump continues to play a role in Donald Trump’s political life, with insiders crediting her for keeping him “calm and focused” during tumultuous times and providing a sense of tranquility when needed. It’s a dynamic that underscores Melania’s influence as a “secret weapon” in Trump’s political strategy, as reported in previous accounts. Jordan’s book also highlighted Melania’s awareness of her calming effect on the former president’s fiery temperament.
