Meghan Markle has shared personal and emotional baby news during a podcast appearance.
The Duchess of Sussex spoke candidly about pregnancy loss on her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. Her comments prompted an outpouring of support across social media platforms.
Listeners reacted after hearing Markle discuss a painful chapter of her life. One social media user urged kindness, saying people rarely know what others are facing.
Another wrote encouragement directly to Markle, praising her strength. Several others thanked her for speaking openly about the experience.
Markle previously revealed the loss in a 2020 essay for The New York Times. She wrote that she lost her second child after feeling a sharp cramp while changing her son Archie’s diaper in July that year.
Markle recalled becoming ill at her Los Angeles home before seeking hospital treatment.
The miscarriage occurred during a period of intense public scrutiny. Markle said the experience was deeply private and emotionally overwhelming.

Her essay drew widespread attention for its frank description of grief. It also sparked broader conversations about pregnancy loss.
Podcast discussion and family reflections
On her podcast, Markle discussed the miscarriage with Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code. Saujani has also spoken publicly about experiencing multiple miscarriages. The two discussed shared feelings of grief, expectation, and letting go.
Markle said the experience required learning emotional detachment from future plans. She described having to accept the loss of something filled with hope and promise.
“You have to learn to detach from the thing that you have so much promise and hope for,” she said. Saujani responded that Markle’s words felt deeply personal and familiar.
Prince Harry also addressed the miscarriage in his memoir Spare. He wrote that he and Markle “both wept” after leaving the hospital. Harry said he felt completely hopeless during the experience.
He described burying their unborn child in a private place meaningful to them both. “Under a spreading banyan tree, while Meg wept, I dug a hole with my hands,” he wrote.
He described placing the remains gently into the ground. The passage drew significant attention following the book’s release.
Previous health scare revealed
Markle’s discussion followed an earlier episode of her podcast focused on postpartum health. In that episode, she spoke with Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of Bumble.

Both women shared experiences with postpartum preeclampsia. Markle described the condition as a major medical scare.
Postpartum preeclampsia is a rare condition involving high blood pressure and excess protein in the urine. According to Mayo Clinic, it occurs shortly after childbirth.
The condition requires urgent medical treatment. If untreated, it can lead to seizures and serious complications.
“The world doesn’t know what’s happening quietly,” Markle said during the episode. She explained that mothers often continue caring for others while facing serious health risks.
Markle said the experience underscored how hidden medical struggles can be.
Her comments again prompted messages of support from listeners.
