Jimmy Kimmel delivered a bold response to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s request to appear on his late-night television show during Monday night’s episode, declining her invitation in a brutal manner. Known for her outspoken views in the Republican Party and staunch support for former President Donald Trump, the Georgia congresswoman had previously reported Kimmel to the police over a joke he made on TV. Now, seeking a platform to promote her new book MTG, Greene publicly requested a guest slot on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
In a tweet on November 22, Greene addressed Kimmel directly, saying, “Hey @jimmykimmel since most of your show content is your nonstop lies about me, why don’t you have me on your show? I’ll bring you a copy of my book and we can chat about what needs to happen to SAVE AMERICA!”
Kimmel responded on Monday night’s episode, expressing amazement at Greene’s audacity to seek an invitation after her previous actions. He joked about a potential plan to make her wait in the green room for an hour doing power squats and then potentially bumping her from the show, alluding to a recurring joke involving Matt Damon.
The host then took a moment to critique the apparent poor sales of Greene’s book, noting its low ranking on Amazon and comparing it unfavorably to other books in the Women’s Biography category. He humorously speculated about reporting her book as a “bomb” to the Capitol Police.
Regarding the book’s Amazon ranking, Kimmel said, “It’s ranked number 9,846. It’s ranked number 65 in the Women’s Biography category which puts it 50 places behind a book written by Kanye’s ex-girlfriend, 51 places behind Michelle Obama’s book from 2018, 54 places behind Michelle Obama’s other book and 60 places behind Paris Hilton’s Paris the Memoir.”
Kimmel further highlighted the book’s decline, mentioning that on November 28, it had slipped to number 12,459 in Books and number 75 in Women’s Biographies, with a 1.8-star rating.
The late-night host also shared a critical review of the book, signaling a shift in sentiment among Greene’s former supporters. This incident marks another instance where Kimmel has criticized a political figure on his show, following his previous remarks about Donald Trump’s social media app, Truth Social. In that case, Kimmel responded to a letter from Trump Media and Technology Group, retracting a statement about the platform’s financial losses.
