According to a statement from Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 14, Geoff met with officials to receive an update on the case. They noted that Geoff expressed a willingness to share everything he knows about Liam’s life in order to assist with the investigation.
The statement, translated from Spanish, indicates that Geoff urged authorities to fully investigate and uncover the exact circumstances surrounding Liam’s death. It also mentioned that toxicology and histopathology tests, which complement Liam’s autopsy, have yet to be completed.
As previously reported, initial autopsy results revealed that Liam had a mix of drugs, including the substance known as “pink cocaine,” in his system when he died. Liam tragically fell from the third-floor balcony of his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on October 16.
Argentinian authorities have informed Geoff that his son’s body must remain in the country until their reports are finalized, at which point it will be released to the family. In the meantime, the investigation is ongoing, with a review of phone and computer data, as well as security camera footage, which officials say will take additional time to analyze.
Officials are also continuing to interview witnesses, including hotel staff, acquaintances, and medical professionals, in an effort to piece together the final hours of Liam’s life.
While in Buenos Aires, Geoff is receiving police protection. Officials described him as being in a “state of logical shock.” They also noted that the UK government is being kept informed due to Liam’s British citizenship, and that British authorities have offered to cooperate with the investigation.
