Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband Overcharged Her as Manager, Ordered to Return Millions

Kelly Clarkson emerges victorious once again in her ongoing divorce saga with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

This time, a California labor commissioner ruled that Brandon had overcharged her by millions while representing her as a manager.

The ruling specifically addresses instances where Brandon, in his managerial role, booked gigs and negotiated deals for Kelly, ventures that exceeded the typical duties of a manager.

Legal documents, obtained by TMZ, reveal that the labor commissioner found Brandon’s actions inappropriate, as managers are not authorized to secure roles for talent, except in certain exceptions.

The gigs in question include appearances on “The Voice,” Norwegian Cruise Line, collaborations with Wayfair, and hosting duties for the Billboard Music Awards.

As a consequence of this ruling, Brandon is directed to return the commissions he received for these bookings, amounting to a substantial $2,641,374.

One interesting detail that surfaced during the proceedings is that Brandon earned $1.98 million in commissions for Kelly’s role on “The Voice.” In stark contrast, he received a mere $93.30 for her hosting duties at the Billboard Music Awards. Brandon has expressed his intention to appeal the commissioner’s decision.

While the legal battle unfolds, some relief comes for Brandon in the form of the money he earned from securing Kelly’s gig on her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Despite Kelly’s efforts to include this amount in the reimbursement, the labor commissioner sided with Brandon on this particular matter.

The divorce saga between Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock began in 2020 after seven years of marriage, reaching its finalization in March 2022. The settlement saw Kelly gaining possession of the contested Montana ranch. However, she had to pay Brandon $1.3 million, in addition to shouldering a monthly child support obligation of $45,000 for their two children, aged 9 and 7. Brandon also receives $115,000 per month in spousal support, a financial arrangement scheduled to conclude in January 2024.

Represented by her attorney Ed McPherson, Kelly secured several assets in the settlement, including family pets, multiple cars such as a Ford Bronco, a Ford F-250, and a Porsche Cayenne, as well as a flight simulator. The ongoing legal developments shed light on the intricacies of celebrity divorces, revealing the complexities involved in separating personal and financial aspects when high-profile individuals part ways.
