It looks like Katy Perry has left her TGIF style partying in the past, as she’s recently admitted to being five weeks sober after making a pact with fiancé, Orlando Bloom, to stop drinking for 3 months.
Whilst attending a pretty swanky cocktail event in NYC, she revealed she wasn’t drinking, and had actually ”been sober for five weeks today…,” PEOPLE reports.
“I’ve been doing a pact with my partner and I want to quit,” she added, jokingly pretending to cry.
And it looks like she’ll be sticking to it, as when asked if she’d thought about caving, Perry replied with “No, girl! I can’t cave. I made a promise. Three months.”
But fear not, no alcohol didn’t mean she missed out on the fun, and the bar actually stocked the singers own line of non-alcoholic beverages De Soi.
She launched the brand last year with Morgan McLachlan, which is a line of non-alcoholic apéritifs with natural adaptogens (herbs, roots and other plants, like mushrooms, that help manage stress).
”As creative professionals and busy moms with a shared love for a spritz, we wanted a drink that was bubbly and delicious, but that didn’t get in the way of early mornings and long nights. A drink that was truly fun to sip on, and still allowed us to feel present and engaged while taking the lead,” the pair wrote on their website.
In an interview around the time of De Sow’s launch, Perry revealed her reasoning behind the brand’s creation – ”“I definitely can’t drink like I was in my 20s,” she revealed.
“On a weekday, having a couple [of alcoholic drinks] will take me out of the presence game for the next day or two.”
“So I like to have a bit of self-control on the weekdays and then have dinners with friends and stuff on weekends or when I’m not working, et cetera,” continued Perry, who shares a two-year-old daughter with Bloom. “But really it’s about balance.”
