The FBI has called on the public for help in identifying the suspect and offered a $100,000 reward.
The FBI has released new footage and images as part of its hunt for the gunman who assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Kirk’s killing, carried out with a single gunshot as he spoke to students, shocked much of America. Graphic videos of the moment have since circulated widely on social media.
Authorities confirmed that two people were initially arrested, but later ruled out as suspects, saying they had “no current ties” to the crime. The shooter remains at large.
The FBI has been posting regular updates on its social media accounts. On September 11, the bureau shared an image of a person of interest, urging anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
“We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” the statement read.
A second update included chilling video footage of the suspect fleeing.
“The FBI is releasing video of the shooter who murdered Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025,” the post said. “Following the shooting, the individual jumps from a rooftop and runs away from the location. Trace evidence collected from the rooftop includes shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print. The shooter’s weapon and ammunition were recovered from a wooded area near the university.”
The video shows the suspect leaping from a university building and escaping on foot.
In addition to the video, the FBI has released more images of the person of interest they are seeking. The bureau has also announced a $100,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
Prior to the footage being made public, Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason told reporters that authorities were confident in their progress.
“We are working through some technologies and some ways to identify this individual,” Mason said. “If we are unsuccessful, we will reach out to the media and push that publicly to help us identify them. But we are confident in our abilities right now.”
The FBI has also asked residents near the university to review any home surveillance or doorbell camera footage and submit anything unusual that could help the investigation.
