Father Punches Comedian On Stage After ‘Sexualised’ Joke About His Child

A comedy show in Spain took a wild turn after a furious dad stormed the stage and punched a stand-up comic in front of a stunned crowd.

What was meant to be a night of laughs in Alicante ended with chaos, shouting, and security scrambling.

Spanish comedian Jaime Caravaca was performing on stage in June when the unexpected confrontation unfolded. Mid-set, a man later identified as Alberto Pugilato walked straight up to him and threw a punch.

The incident, which was captured on video and later went viral, shows Caravaca backing into a corner as the dad aggressively confronted him. Audience members, who had paid for jokes, suddenly found themselves watching a real-life showdown instead.

“Say it to my face”

Footage shows Caravaca looking visibly confused as the man approached him on stage. He can be heard nervously asking, “Who are you?” but didn’t get an answer before the punch landed.

Instead of explaining himself calmly, Pugilato launched into a furious rant. In the clip, he can be heard shouting: “Those paedophilic comments about my son… say them to my face… you piece of trash… now!”

The dad continued yelling while Caravaca tried to keep his distance. The confrontation quickly escalated, with Pugilato accusing the comedian of making sexualised comments about his three-month-old child.

Pugilato later pinned the video to his Instagram account, writing that it showed how he had “taught a lesson” to people who feel brave behind a screen.

Where did it all start?

According to reports, the on-stage punch-up stemmed from a social media exchange that happened weeks earlier. Pugilato had shared a photo of himself with his newborn son, captioned: “Pride and joy.”

Caravaca, whose political views sharply oppose Pugilato’s, replied with a comment suggesting the child might grow up gay. He then followed it with an even more graphic remark about the child’s future sexual behaviour.

Those comments sparked outrage and sat at the centre of the confrontation. Translators of the viral clip claim Pugilato repeatedly demanded that Caravaca repeat those remarks to his face.

“What’s up, huh? What have you said?” the father reportedly shouted. “This is for the paedophilic comments he made about my son. Will you repeat what you said now?”

He continued: “He’s three months old. Trash. Say it to my face now.”

Crowd left stunned

Members of the audience attempted to intervene as the situation spiralled. Pugilato briefly turned to them and apologised for disrupting the show.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he said. “I’m just a father defending his child. He made sexualising comments about my three-month-old son.”

Caravaca tried to de-escalate, asking if they could talk things through. That didn’t land well. Pugilato reportedly dismissed him as a “clown” and continued berating him.

Police were later called to the venue, but no arrests were made. Caravaca chose not to file a complaint, which allowed the situation to end without charges.

Apologies and uneasy peace

Following the incident, Caravaca addressed the controversy on social media. He admitted the joke crossed a line and issued an apology.

“After what happened, what was intended to be a joke was ultimately an unfortunate and not at all appropriate comment on my part,” he wrote. “My apologies to anyone who feels affected.”

He added: “Let’s put violence aside, and leave a good world for people to grow free.”

Pugilato responded publicly, accepting the apology but standing by his actions.

“I accept your apology, Jaime,” he wrote. “I defend freedom of expression in the same way that I defend the right to respond.”

In a later post, he added: “Children are sacred. I forgive him and do not wish him any harm.”

The clip continues to divide opinion online, with some condemning violence outright and others arguing the joke should never have been made.

One thing’s certain though: this comedy show ended in a way nobody in the room expected.
