CBS mourns the loss of Elise Finch, a talented meteorologist, following her untimely passing at the age of 51.

WCBS-TV, the CBS New York affiliate, shared the devastating news on Sunday (16 July), expressing shock at her sudden and unexpected death.

The cause of her passing has yet to be determined.

In a heartfelt statement posted on its website, the station paid tribute to Finch, who had been a cherished member of the WCBS team for 16 years. “Elise has been a friend and team member at WCBS for 16 years. Her death is sudden and unexpected, leaving us all trying to understand how this could happen to our beautiful Elise, who was just 51 years old,” the statement read.

The station praised Finch for her professionalism and dedication to her craft, describing her as a gifted meteorologist who took great care in her work.

She was not only respected in the industry but also an active ambassador in her community, particularly in her hometown of Mount Vernon.

Above all, she was a devoted mother to her daughter Grace and a loving wife to Graig Henriques, a photojournalist at WCBS.

The statement concluded with a poignant sentiment: “Truly, every day was a good day when we were with Elise, and we will miss her dearly.”

On Twitter, Finch’s colleagues shared their heartfelt condolences and memories of their beloved coworker. Jessica Moore, weekend evening anchor on WCBS, expressed her deep sorrow, saying, “Elise was fiercely loyal to those she loved, a straight shooter, a consummate professional, and made me laugh until I cried. But above all, she was completely devoted to her family, especially her daughter Grace. I love you so much, my friend. Heaven now has an angel like no other.” Chris Wragge, WCBS anchor, added, “My heart is broken. Our team will never be the same. No one matched musical wits better. I’ll miss you much.” Otis Livingston, WCBS-TV sports director, also mourned the loss, emphasizing Finch’s caring nature and extending condolences to her loved ones.

During her remarkable career, Finch was recognized with two Emmy Awards, one in 2018 and another in 2019, for her exceptional work at WCBS-TV. She joined the network in 2007 as a weekend meteorologist and later became part of the weekday morning news team, alongside co-anchors Mary Calvi and Chris Wragge. In September, she transitioned to the 9 a.m. newscast with Cindy Hsu.

Finch’s educational background showcased her dedication to her profession.
