A bride confronted her fiancé’s infidelity by reading his affair messages aloud during their wedding ceremony.
The couple had been together for several years and were due to marry as planned. The moment transformed what was meant to be a traditional wedding into what the bride later described as a “celebration of honesty.”
The bride, who used the pseudonym Casey, wrote about the experience in an essay for Body+Soul. She said the night before the wedding she was with her bridesmaids having a drink.
During the evening, she received a series of screenshots from an unknown number.
Alongside the images, the sender wrote: “I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?”
The screenshots showed explicit messages sent by Casey’s fiancé, referred to as Alex, to another woman.

The messages suggested the affair had continued for several months leading up to the wedding.
One message read: “This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game.”
Another said: “Your body is f**king incredible. And s**t do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do.”
A third message read: “I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L***, S***, F***’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before.”
Casey said the messages left her devastated. “I burst into shamed and broken tears,” she wrote.
She said her bridesmaids immediately urged her to confront Alex and cancel the wedding.
She explained that despite the betrayal, she still loved him. “But I loved Alex. I wanted to marry Alex tomorrow,” she wrote.
Casey said she felt too shocked and upset to react with anger. She chose not to call him that night and instead tried to sleep.
Ceremony turns into public reckoning
Casey said she barely slept and made her decision as dawn arrived.
She woke her bridesmaids and told them she would go ahead with the ceremony. She said she planned to expose the affair publicly in front of their friends and family.
Her intention, she wrote, was to reclaim control of the situation.
When it came time to exchange vows, Casey read out the affair messages instead. Guests listened as the private texts were spoken aloud in the church.
“It seems Alex is not who I thought he was,” she told those gathered. “I love all of you and as horrible as this is I’m glad you all are here.”

She then explained that the day would not continue as planned.
“There will not be a wedding reception today,” Casey said. “But instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts.”
According to her account, the groom’s reaction was immediate. Casey wrote that the colour drained from Alex’s face as the messages were read.
She said he then left the church, followed by his best man. The ceremony ended without vows being exchanged.
Reflecting on the day, Casey said the outcome was not what she had imagined. “It was certainly not the wedding day I had planned,” she wrote.
“But to our credit, it was one hell of a party.”
