Former WWE legend Tammy Sytch, widely known as WWE Hall of Famer Sunny, has been handed a 17-year jail sentence following her involvement in a fatal car crash in March 2022. The 50-year-old pleaded no contest to the charges, which included DUI causing death, marking a tragic turn in her tumultuous life.
The incident occurred when Sytch, driving a Sedan, collided with a vehicle driven by Julian Lasseter, who had stopped at a red light near Ormond Beach in Florida. The impact proved fatal for the 75-year-old Lasseter. Authorities reported that Sytch’s blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit at the time of the crash. She has been incarcerated since March 2022.
The sentencing includes a 10-and-a-half-year term for driving with a suspended license causing death, coupled with an additional seven years for DUI manslaughter. Sytch has also been placed on eight years of probation, and her driving license has been permanently revoked.
In a poignant moment during the sentencing at the Volusia County courtroom, Sytch, clad in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs, addressed the family of the victim. Expressing remorse, she acknowledged the gravity of her actions: ‘I know my words are not enough, but please know that I think about you every day.’ Sytch emphasized that while she had committed a grievous mistake, she was more than the sum of her worst choices.
Reflecting on the tragedy, she revealed, ‘I try and think about the good I have done because when I sit alone and think about what I did to the Lasser family that tragic day, from a stupid decision, I feel the regret and remorse deep inside my soul.’
Sytch, who appeared visibly emotional during her statement, drew parallels between her own losses and the pain experienced by the victim’s family. Having lost her father to heart disease at the age of 20 and her mother while incarcerated in August of the previous year, she empathized with the sorrow of not having the opportunity to bid farewell to a loved one.
This isn’t the first time Sytch has faced legal consequences. In 2013, she spent 114 days in jail in Connecticut for assaulting her boyfriend and violating parole conditions. During that incarceration, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and underwent treatment. In 2019, she faced another arrest in New Jersey, leading to a year-long prison term for DUI and other driving offenses.
Following her release, Sytch turned to platforms like O**yFans for financial support, transitioning away from her wrestling career. Notably, in 2016, she ventured into the adult entertainment industry, starring in the ad*lt film ‘Sunny Side Up.’
Sytch’s wrestling journey began in 1994, lasting until 1998. Introduced to the industry by her longtime boyfriend Chris Candido, who passed away in 2005, she became a prominent figure in WWE. However, her post-wrestling life has been marked by legal troubles, health issues, and now, a significant prison sentence for a tragic incident that claimed a life.
