Apparently, the secret to being irresistible isn’t hitting the gym, climbing mountains, or cooking up a storm — it’s something far simpler.
A new survey by Date Psychology, reported by the Daily Mail, has revealed the most attractive hobby a man can have. And the result might surprise you.

What Women Actually Want
Some of the most popular hobbies men tend to brag about include football, camping, hiking, DIY, or even gardening.
But when women were asked which hobby they found most attractive, a staggering 98.2 percent agreed on just one: reading.
Yep, apparently picking up a book is the biggest green flag out there.
Other creative or thoughtful hobbies like painting, writing, photography, astronomy, blacksmithing, hiking, and archery also scored highly.

The Least Attractive Hobbies
Of course, the survey didn’t just name the winners. It also revealed which hobbies turn women off the most.
Drinking made the list of top 15 least attractive pastimes — which could spell trouble, considering around 54 percent of American men drink at least once a month.
U.S. dating coach Courtney Ryan backed this up on her YouTube channel, admitting:
“I do personally think it’s a huge turn off when someone can only have a good time if alcohol is involved or if someone makes this their entire personality.”
Other low scorers included comic books, cosplay, and debating.
Why Reading Tops the List
So, why does reading top the charts? Many people think it’s because it shows creativity, intelligence, and curiosity — qualities that tend to go hand in hand with deeper conversations and emotional maturity.
As one Reddit user put it:
“The top of the list are all creative, physically active, or intellectually stimulating activities. The things on the bottom of the list are primarily about checking out and escapism.”
Another added:
“Obviously, everyone enjoys a mix, but the idea of a person who does more of the top list items – who makes stuff, learns stuff, and is generally active and engaged – is going to be more attractive than someone who isn’t.”
Do Hobbies Really Matter?
Not everyone agrees the results mean much. One Redditor argued:
“What’s important is to do something you find fulfilling and enjoyable. If you are just doing it to impress other people, you are unlikely to stick at it.”
Others simply dismissed the list as “ridiculous.”
Still, if you were looking for an excuse to finally finish that book on your nightstand — this might just be it.
