Sophie Turner’s purported love for the nightlife scene has reportedly played a pivotal role in her husband, Joe Jonas, deciding to file for divorce. The 27-year-old “Game of Thrones” alum’s party-going lifestyle stands in stark contrast to Joe Jonas’s preference for a quieter domestic life, according to an insider.
Joe Jonas, the 34-year-old frontman of the Jonas Brothers, initiated the formal process to dissolve their four-year marriage by filing a divorce petition in Miami. In his legal filing, he cited that their union was “irretrievably broken.” For guidance through this intricate process, Joe enlisted the services of renowned celebrity attorney Tom Sasser, who previously handled Tiger Woods’ divorce.
The filing also reveals Joe’s desire for “shared parental responsibility” for their two daughters, a 3-year-old named Willa and a 1-year-old whose name has not yet been publicly disclosed. Despite the couple’s estrangement, it appears that they have a firm prenuptial agreement in place, as indicated in the legal documents.
Reported details about the division of assets indicate that Joe Jonas will retain all his royalties from the music he created with his brothers, Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas, as well as any earnings generated by his band DNCE. In contrast, Sophie Turner will reportedly keep the income she accrued from her roles in “Game of Thrones” and any residuals from her acting career. Additionally, both will maintain control over the rights to their images, likenesses, and businesses linked to their celebrity status.
Regarding properties acquired before their marriage, it is said that these will remain under the ownership of the original purchaser.
As news of their divorce broke, representatives for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The dissolution of their marriage was confirmed by Page Six, with insider sources suggesting that Joe Jonas is actively exploring his future options. It has been reported that the couple had been grappling with “serious problems” for approximately six months.
According to sources, Joe Jonas has taken on the primary caregiver role for their children for a significant portion of the time, even while touring with his siblings. In contrast, Sophie Turner, who has been working on a TV series in the UK, was initially seen attending the opening night of the Jonas Brothers’ tour but subsequently stopped attending shows as the news of their marital troubles emerged.
Notably, Sophie Turner made a special appearance at the band’s concert in Austin, Texas, during which Joe performed “Hesitate,” a love song he had written for her.
While Joe Jonas has been spotted without his wedding ring at various tour stops, he prominently displayed the ring during his latest performance and in his recent Instagram post, which he shared just one day before filing for divorce.
Sophie Turner, on the other hand, expressed her homesickness and her desire to move her family to England in an interview last year. She stated her longing for England and her family and friends there, citing her “mental health” as a driving factor behind her wish to relocate. She emphasized her desire for her children to have the opportunity to grow up in England as well, despite her admission that she had come to love living in America.
