Paris Hilton, the media personality and DJ, recently opened up about her initial experiences as a parent, candidly admitting that she didn’t take on the task of changing her son Phoenix’s diaper until he was a month old. While changing diapers may not be the most glamorous aspect of parenthood, Paris shared her journey into motherhood and addressed some challenges along the way.
Paris joyfully announced the arrival of her son Phoenix on January 25, sharing an intimate photo on her social media platforms capturing the newborn’s tiny fingers wrapped around hers. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, she expressed her happiness, describing motherhood as her long-cherished dream. Paris shared, “It’s always been my dream to be a mother, and I’m so happy that Carter [Reum] and I found each other. We are so excited to start our family together, and our hearts are exploding with love for our baby boy.”
However, in a candid moment from her reality show, “Paris In Love,” she revealed her hesitation and humorously expressed her fear about changing her son’s diaper for the first time. A TikTok clip circulating online captured this moment, where Paris, joined by her sister Nicky, embarked on this new parenting challenge. Paris, born on February 17, just a month after Phoenix’s birth, playfully remarked, “I said I wouldn’t do this on my birthday, but I will for you.”
In the scene, Nicky expressed surprise when she learned that Paris had not changed Phoenix’s diaper before. The exchange unfolds with Nicky and another woman, presumably Phoenix’s nanny, guiding Paris through the process. In the confessional, Nicky shared insights into Paris’s unexpected journey into motherhood, highlighting her sister’s tomboyish upbringing and the adjustment required for parenthood.
Addressing the unfortunate online trolling directed at Phoenix’s appearance, Paris responded with a heartfelt statement. She expressed disbelief at the cruelty directed towards an innocent baby and emphasized her commitment to protecting her “little angel.” Paris, known for avoiding responses to hate, found herself compelled to address the hurtful comments, stating, “Usually, I wouldn’t even dignify anything like that with a response, but I was just heartbroken that there are such cruel people in the world.”
Sympathizing with the trolls, she remarked on the apparent misery in their lives that leads them to speak negatively about a child. Despite the negativity, Paris found solace in the overwhelming support from her fans, expressing gratitude for the love and encouragement. She acknowledged the messages from people expressing love for Phoenix and reassuring her not to heed the trolls.
In response to the outpouring of support, Paris shared her appreciation, saying, “I’ve just been reading all the messages from people saying how much they love Phoenix and how beautiful he is and to not listen to the trolls. So anyone reading this, thank you so much. I really, really appreciate everyone looking out for us.”
