Prince Andrew has been named more than any other British figure in newly released documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein, according to unsealed US court records.
The files, released in New York, are part of a long-running civil case involving Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell. They include depositions, flight logs, and interview transcripts gathered over several years.
The documents do not lay any criminal charges on Andrew, but they show how frequently his name appears in connection with Epstein’s network.
The unsealed material comes from Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit against Maxwell. Giuffre has long claimed Epstein trafficked her as a teenager and that she was forced to have sex with Andrew multiple times. He has always denied all allegations.
Multiple outlets report that Andrew appears in testimony, flight logs and witness statements more often than any other British person. His name is tied to social events, flights, and meetings said to have taken place in London, New York and the Caribbean.
One document reportedly cites Andrew as the British figure mentioned most across all evidence. That includes witnesses naming him as someone they saw around Epstein, though not always in connection to criminal acts.
These documents were made public after a US judge ruled it was in the public interest to unseal parts of the case. Many names remain redacted, but dozens are now visible.
For Andrew, the files add more detail to an already damaging story, though they do not introduce new major accusations.
The Duke of York first came under public pressure in 2019, after Epstein’s arrest and death in jail. A photo showing Andrew with his arm around Giuffre at Maxwell’s London home became one of the most talked about images from the scandal.
The Photo, the Lawsuit, and the Fallout That Changed Everything
Giuffre has claimed the photo was taken the night she was forced to have sex with Andrew. He has denied ever meeting her and questioned the photo’s authenticity.
In the 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, Andrew tried to explain his Epstein connection. He said he met Epstein in 1999 through Maxwell and stayed at several of Epstein’s properties. He claimed he never saw or knew of any criminal behaviour.
Former Prince called his decision to stay at Epstein’s New York home in 2010 “the wrong decision” and said he regretted it.
The interview was widely seen as disastrous and led to Andrew stepping back from royal duties.
Giuffre later sued Andrew in New York, accusing him of sexual assault when she was 17. The case was settled in February 2022. Andrew agreed to pay a large settlement but did not admit guilt. He said he regretted his association with Epstein.
The new documents repeat much of what has already been publicly known. Witnesses describe seeing Andrew at Epstein’s properties or on his private jet. Some mention dinners, parties and meetings where he was allegedly present.
In many accounts, Andrew is not accused of specific wrongdoing but is mentioned as part of Epstein’s high-profile social circle. His name appears because he moved in those circles regularly.
Some witnesses admitted they could not confirm any criminal acts by Andrew, but remembered seeing him around Epstein.
Why Andrew’s Name Appears More Than Anyone Else’s
Legal experts say the frequent mentions show how connected Andrew was to Epstein, not that there are new allegations against him.
Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
The Royal Family has distanced itself from the Duke of York. In 2022 he was stripped of his military titles and stopped using “His Royal Highness” in official roles.
Earlier this year he was also stripped from his Prince title and forced to move out of his Royal home.
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on specific legal matters, but says Andrew maintains his denial.
Andrew’s Epstein connection began after Maxwell introduced them in the late 1990s. Epstein had homes in New York, Florida, New Mexico, Paris and the US Virgin Islands. He was known for meeting wealthy and powerful people, including royalty, politicians and business leaders.
Flight logs show Andrew on several trips aboard Epstein’s private jet. He said his dealings were linked to promoting British trade interests.
Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking and is serving a 20-year prison sentence. During her trial, Andrew’s name was mentioned in passing, keeping his association alive in public discussion.
Legal attempts were made to question Andrew under oath about visits to certain properties, but they never resulted in public testimony.
Public opinion has turned against him. He is viewed as one of the least popular royals in the UK. Many charities cut ties with him, and he rarely appears at public royal events.
While UK police decided not to take action in 2021, the new documents may keep public interest alive, even if they do not change his legal position.
Legal Experts Say It’s Damaging — Even Without New Charges
Legal experts believe the files will fuel more discussion rather than lead to any criminal action against him.
The attention is now on how these repeated mentions keep Andrew’s name at the centre of one of the most notorious abuse scandals in modern history.
For Andrew, being named most frequently is a damaging headline, even without new charges.
His name remains tied to Epstein, and that connection is unlikely to fade soon.
Other public figures mentioned include David Beckham, Naomi Campbell, Adele and Mick Jagger.
Being mentioned in the files does not mean any wrongdoing.
