A 24-year-old student celebrating in scenic Majorca, Spain, likely met a tragic end after being crushed in a garbage truck and then incinerated, according to police reports.
Agostina Rubini Medina had been missing for over two weeks after disappearing during a night out with friends in Palma, the capital of the popular vacation destination.
Spain’s National Police have developed a theory: the intoxicated student likely passed out while rummaging through a trash bin, possibly searching for her phone. She was then picked up by a garbage truck, crushed in its compactor, and later incinerated.
A nearby shop worker recalled seeing Medina, visibly drunk, purchase a bag of chips just before midnight. Shortly after, a witness at a bus stop noticed her handbag and blouse carefully placed by a large trash bin.
Tracking data indicated Medina’s phone stayed at that location for around 30 minutes before being taken to the incineration plant, where the signal was lost. This timeline aligns with the route of the garbage truck. Later, human skeletal remains were found in the ashes at the incinerator, and police are working to confirm if they belong to Medina, according to reports by The Sun.
“The main hypothesis is that she went into the container to get something and had the bad luck of feeling unwell inside the container,” Inspector Ángel Ruiz told the media.

Authorities added that Medina was a slim woman with a low tolerance for alcohol, which was worsened by medication she had been taking.
Heartbreaking.
