Missing Ohio State Grad Student who Vanished Last Month Found Dead in Remote Quarry

Tragic news emerged as authorities and the family of Amina Alhaj-Omar, a graduate student at Ohio State University who went missing last month, confirmed that her lifeless body had been discovered in a remote quarry.

The somber discovery was made last week, with the remains found behind a BP gas station where Alhaj-Omar was last seen.

The Columbus police reported that officers had located the remains in a “remote area,” though the cause of her death remains unknown at this time.

Alhaj-Omar’s family expressed their devastation and gratitude in an obituary, stating, “We are devastated by our immense loss, but we also thank God every single day for blessing us with the privilege of knowing and loving her beautiful soul for the last twenty-five years.”

The 25-year-old graduate student had gone missing on June 10, prompting an extensive search effort. However, after 19 days of tireless searching, authorities were forced to suspend the active search as all available leads had been exhausted. Alhaj-Omar had completed her undergraduate studies in criminology at Ohio State before pursuing her graduate-level studies in social work.

According to her relatives, it was believed that Alhaj-Omar may have entered the quarry pond. Her jacket, shoes, and cellphone were discovered on the property, leading to concerns about her well-being. In their obituary, her family highlighted her relentless pursuit of her dreams and her dedication to advocating for others.

Describing her vibrant personality, the obituary emphasized Alhaj-Omar’s infectious laughter, which brought joy to everyone around her. She possessed a remarkable ability to make people feel comfortable and welcomed in any situation.
