Meg Ryan looks Unrecognizable in Rare Public Appearance in NY

Actress Meg Ryan made a rare public appearance in New York City on Wednesday night to support Michael J. Fox at a screening of his new documentary “STILL”.

The 61-year-old star, best known for her roles in classic romantic comedies such as “When Harry Met Sally” and “Sleepless In Seattle”, posed for photos with Fox, which caused social media to buzz about her appearance.

While many were enamored by the enduring friendship between Ryan and Fox, some social media pundits were distracted by the actress’s appearance, saying she was “unrecognizable” and questioning whether she had undergone some cosmetic work.

However, several supporters hit back, defending the star’s looks and pointing out that she looked exactly as different as one would expect a 61-year-old to look.

Ryan is known for keeping a low profile and making few public appearances.

Wednesday’s outing was her first media event in more than six months.

The Hollywood sweetheart has not spoken publicly about whether or not she’s had any cosmetic work, despite more than a decade of speculation about her appearance.

Back in 2016, The Huffington Post published an article titled “Meg Ryan’s Face Is None of Our Business,” after the actress started trending on Twitter following her appearance at that year’s Tony Awards.

At the time, the article argued that Ryan had the right to age gracefully without being scrutinized by the public.

Ryan hasn’t been seen in a big-screen movie since 2015’s “Ithaca,” but last year, she thrilled fans by announcing that she was returning to rom-com roots. Ryan, who is known as the queen of the genre, announced that she would star and direct the romantic comedy “What Happens After.” David Duchovny has also been attached to star, although production details have not yet been made public.

The movie is based on Steven Dietz’s play “Shooting Star” and follows ex-lovers Willa (Ryan) and Bill (Duchovny), who are reunited by force when they’re snowed in at an airport overnight. Willa is independent, while Bill is recently separated and assessing his life and relationships with his estranged wife and daughter, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Ryan’s appearance at Fox’s documentary screening and her return to the rom-com genre have been welcomed by her fans, who are excited to see her back in the limelight. Despite the scrutiny she’s faced about her appearance over the years, Ryan’s talent as an actress and director continues to make her a beloved figure in Hollywood.
