A married mother of three has spoken about the impact of having s*x every day for an entire year.
She said the experience changed how she viewed intimacy, confidence, and her relationship.
Brittany Gibbons said she and her husband committed to the challenge despite demanding work schedules and parenting responsibilities. She said neither work nor children stopped them from completing the year.
As people age, maintaining a regular s*x life can become more difficult. Many couples report reduced frequency due to work pressures, stress, and family commitments.
Studies have suggested that American couples in their twenties typically have s*x once every four or five days. That number often declines steadily as couples grow older.
Against that backdrop, Gibbons described the challenge as ambitious. She began the commitment in 2022 and said all s*xual activity was within her marriage.
She noted that others have attempted similar challenges with strangers. Gibbons stressed her experience focused entirely on her relationship with her husband.
She said the challenge was never about simply meeting a daily target. Over time, she said it became more enjoyable and helped her better understand her body.
Early difficulties and gradual changes
Gibbons said the challenge did not begin easily. She described feeling overwhelmed by the idea of maintaining daily intimacy.
“It started off rough,” she wrote. “I’d be standing at the sink taking out my contacts when it’d hit me.”
She said the thought of having s*x every night felt exhausting. Gibbons described herself as a work-from-home mother juggling three children.
“As a work-from-home mom of three, the thought exhausted me,” she wrote. She said the commitment initially felt like another responsibility.
Despite the early struggle, Gibbons said the routine began to change her mindset. She said improvements became noticeable after several weeks.
She wrote that s*x began to feel less like an obligation. Instead, she said it became something she looked forward to.
“As the months passed, I started looking forward to it,” she wrote. She said intimacy started to increase naturally.
“S*x begat more s*x,” she wrote. She said feelings of connection extended beyond the bedroom.
Gibbons described moments of intimacy occurring throughout the house. She said affection became more present in daily life.
“We were more romantic with each other,” she wrote. She described longer kisses and more frequent physical touch.
She said their relationship felt stronger during that period. Gibbons linked that change directly to increased intimacy.
“Our relationship was stronger and better when our intimacy was flourishing,” she wrote.
Confidence, connection, and lasting effects
Gibbons said the experience also affected how she viewed her own body. She said she previously struggled with body image issues.
Over time, she said her confidence improved. She began feeling more comfortable in her own skin.
She said she stopped covering herself around the house. That shift marked a noticeable change in her self-perception.

Three years later, Gibbons said her relationship continues to thrive. She said she and her husband no longer have s*x every single day.
Despite that, she said the lessons from the year-long challenge remain important. She said intimacy remains a priority in their marriage.
“The majority of people around you are not having s*x every single day,” she wrote. She said most couples are overwhelmed by responsibilities.
“They’re busy being stressed at work, coordinating their kids’ soccer schedules, and paying bills,” she wrote. She said fitting s*x into daily life can be difficult.
“For us, it’s necessary,” she added. She said intimacy helps distinguish partners from roommates.
“S*x is what reminds us we’re intimate partners and not just roommates in charge of keeping kids alive,” she wrote.
Gibbons also said intimacy does not always mean penetration. She said the challenge brought her closer to her husband in multiple ways.
She said the experience helped her grow personally. Gibbons said it made her a better wife, mother, and woman.
She said the year changed how she prioritises connection. Gibbons described the challenge as demanding but ultimately worthwhile.
