Bad Bunny might be headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, but not everyone’s thrilled about the decision.
Now, an alternative event has just been announced — promising a very different kind of performance for football fans.
Turning Point USA, the nonprofit cofounded by Charlie Kirk and now run by his widow Erika, is planning its own show.
The group announced Thursday it was “thrilled” to launch The All American Halftime Show, scheduled for the same day as the Super Bowl.
Details remain under wraps, including who’s set to perform, but early information has already raised some eyebrows.
On the signup sheet for tickets, one genre option reads simply: “anything in English.”
The Bad Bunny Controversy
The backlash against Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, began soon after his halftime announcement.
Critics have focused on two main points: his criticism of ICE and the fact he usually performs in Spanish.
Some opponents have argued the NFL should have chosen a different artist for the iconic performance.
But the Puerto Rican superstar doesn’t seem too bothered by the noise.
Bunny’s Response On SNL
Hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, Bad Bunny addressed the controversy in his signature cheeky style.
“You might not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” he joked during his monologue.
“I’m very happy, and I think everybody’s happy about it … even Fox News!” he added with a grin.
The joke set up an edited SNL montage showing Fox News anchors appearing to declare: “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president.”
The audience erupted in laughter, clearly enjoying Bunny’s clapback at critics.
With Turning Point USA’s rival halftime event now on the calendar, the stage is set for a very unusual Super Bowl Sunday.
The group’s emphasis on “English-only” music is already sparking debate across social media.
Meanwhile, Bad Bunny’s halftime performance is expected to draw one of the largest global audiences of the year.
Love him or hate him, the Grammy-winner is ready to put on a show millions will be watching.
