A man known as the ‘real Lieutenant Dan’ is trying to survive Hurricane Milton in his boat despite warnings of threat to life.
Terrence Concannon aka the ‘real life Lieutenant Dan’ shared a video on TikTok in anticipation of Hurricane Helen.
It is assumed that the man, who is also known as Joe Sea, gained his nickname due to also having an amputated leg – like the character in Forrest Gump.
While living on his boat at Bayshore Boulevard, Concannon started filming his experience of battling.
Fortunately, both him and his boat survived. However, his followers are concerned for his safety after Hurricane Milton hit recently.
He claims that his boat is the ‘safest place to be’. The police even attempted to convince him to evacuate but it’s been reported that he is still there.

He said: “The water’s going to come in, it’s going to rise. If you’re on land, it’s going to flood. You’re risking drowning. I’m in a boat, so the boat goes up with the water… it’s really the safest place to be, on my boat.”
He also shared that ‘God’ told him to stay on his boat. He said: “He’s got my back. I’m in good shape. I’m not sweating it,”.
One follower of his wrote on his video: “Lieutenant Dan is stressing me out more than Milton at this point,”.
Another said: “I am so invested in Lieutenant Dan. I am scared for him. I am praying he makes it through this.”
We hope he is somewhere safe.
