Singer reassures fans after frightening fall during New York performance
Lola Young has spoken out after collapsing on stage at the All Things Go music festival.
The 24-year-old “Messy” singer was midway through a set in New York on Saturday when disaster struck.
Videos shared online show Young suddenly falling backwards while performing her track Conceited.
Her band stopped instantly as crew members sprinted to help. The shocked crowd was left in stunned silence.
Hours later, Young addressed the incident on Instagram. “For anyone who saw, I’m okay now,” she wrote.
She thanked fans for their concern and support, confirming she was recovering.
‘I didn’t want to wallow in sadness’
Earlier in the show, Young admitted it had been a tough few days.
“Sometimes life makes you feel like you can’t keep going,” she told the audience.
“But I woke up and decided to be here. I wanted to perform. I didn’t want to wallow in sadness.”
Following the collapse, Young announced she would no longer perform at Sunday’s All Things Go festival in Maryland.
“I never take commitments for granted,” she wrote. “I’m sorry to those disappointed. Please give me another chance.”
She also asked online critics to “give me a day off.”
Young had already cancelled a New Jersey appearance at the We Can Survive concert days earlier.
Her manager Nick Shymansky told fans the team occasionally needs to step in for her safety.
He said Young has always been open about her mental health battles.
Rising star with a powerful voice
Young broke out with her hit single Messy from her 2024 album This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway.
This year she wowed crowds at Coachella and performed at the MTV Video Music Awards.
She also appeared on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers just last week.
The Brit Award nominee has spoken publicly about living with schizoaffective disorder.
The Mayo Clinic defines it as a condition combining schizophrenia symptoms with mood disorders such as depression or mania.
In a 2022 Instagram post, Young revealed the diagnosis had reshaped her entire life.
“I have struggled to accept this part of myself,” she wrote. “I’m still learning every day.”
But she added: “My mental health condition does not define me. It is my superpower.”
Candles and tributes from fans have since flooded her socials as supporters send messages of love.
