Christine Baumgartner, the wife of Hollywood actor Kevin Costner, has filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.
The designer filed the petition on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
According to TMZ, Baumgartner has requested joint custody of their three children: Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12, but has not asked for spousal support due to the existence of a prenuptial agreement.
A representative for the “Bodyguard” star confirmed the news in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” the representative said. “We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
Costner, 68, has also responded to the petition by requesting joint custody of the children.
The couple had been dating since 1999, shortly after Costner’s split from Bridget Rooney, with whom he shares son Liam, 27.
After a brief separation in 2003, the pair reconciled the following year and tied the knot in Aspen, Colorado.
They welcomed their oldest son, Cayden, in May 2007 and their second son, Hayes, in February 2009. The following year, their daughter Grace was born.
This is not the first time that Costner has gone through a divorce. He was previously married to Cindy Costner, with whom he shares three children: Annie, 39, Lily, 36, and Joe, 35. The couple split in 2004.
News of the divorce comes after reports that “Yellowstone,” the show that “reinvigorated” Costner’s career and won him a Golden Globe for his role as John Dutton, has been canceled after five seasons due to a dispute between Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan.
However, there is still hope that the issues can be resolved. A production source told The Post, “It’s the same as with any showrunner and big star — there’s respect, but there’s friction… We’re hoping it will be worked out. It’s too big a show for things not to be worked out. Hopefully Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will end after this season.”
Divorce can be a difficult and emotional process for any couple, but the Costners have asked for privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
