Kevin Costner’s $129k/Mo. in Child Support Insufficient, Christine wants $175k

Kevin Costner’s ongoing divorce proceedings have taken a new turn as his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, is seeking a substantial increase in child support payments. Presently, Costner is paying $129,000 per month in child support for their four children. However, according to documents obtained by TMZ, Christine is requesting a reevaluation of this amount to ensure that their children can maintain a consistent lifestyle regardless of which parent they are with.

In her legal filing, Christine outlines two crucial factors for her request. Firstly, she emphasizes the importance of providing their children with the same quality of life, regardless of whether they are with her or with Kevin. Secondly, she contends that recent revelations about Kevin’s income warrant a higher child support contribution.

The heart of Christine’s argument centers on the lavish lifestyle that their children experience when they are with Kevin. She points out that the kids reside in a multimillion-dollar beachfront property estimated to be worth between $65 million and $95 million. Moreover, they frequently travel on private jets for luxurious vacations with their father, such as the recent trips to Aspen and Hawaii.

Christine asserts that it is imperative for the children’s well-being that they are able to enjoy similar experiences during their time with her. She cites California family code as requiring this standard. Even though she acknowledges that increased child support payments might also elevate her own lifestyle, Christine maintains that her primary concern is the children’s stability and satisfaction.

Given the children’s privileged lifestyle with Kevin, Christine contends that the current monthly child support amount of $129,000 falls short of meeting their needs. She proposes an increase to $175,057 per month, which she believes will provide a more equitable level of support, considering the circumstances.

Christine delves into Kevin Costner’s earnings in her filing as well. She reports that his average annual income for the last two years was around $19,248,467, which translates to over $1.6 million each month. With joint custody in mind, she argues that California’s legal guidelines necessitate the $175,057 monthly support she is requesting.

Furthermore, Christine highlights Kevin’s substantial income from his entertainment ventures. Notably, she mentions his earnings of $11 million for the fourth season of “Yellowstone,” another $10 million for the fifth season, and upcoming payments of $12 million for his upcoming film “Horizon” and its sequel.

As the legal battle continues, Christine’s housing situation is also a point of contention. While she has been house hunting, she currently resides in a vacation rental. She expresses her dissatisfaction with her current living arrangements, especially in comparison to Kevin’s lavish accommodations, describing her impending move to a rental in Montecito for $40,000 per month.

In her filing, Christine does not mince words about the disparity between her rental and Kevin’s lavish beachfront property, lamenting, “Unlike Kevin’s Beach Club Compound, the September rental is on the mountain side of the freeway. It does not have beach front access, nor is it walking distance to the beach, and has no scenic view.”

With the complexities of divorce, lifestyle maintenance, and celebrity income at the forefront, this legal battle underscores the intricacies of ensuring the well-being of the children involved while balancing the financial realities of the parties.
