Joe Jonas reportedly filed for divorce from Sophie Turner after allegedly discovering incriminating Ring camera footage, multiple sources close to the Jonas Brothers member told TMZ.
The specific content of the footage remains undisclosed, leaving room for speculation about what led to the end of their four-year marriage.
In the wake of the divorce announcement, more details about the tensions within the estranged couple’s relationship have emerged. According to an insider, Turner’s alleged inclination for a party-centric lifestyle clashed with Jonas’s preference for a quieter, home-oriented existence. The source remarked, “She likes to party; he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles.”
Photographs and videos showing Turner, 27, enjoying a night out with shots in the UK while Jonas, 34, was on tour appeared to corroborate this assertion. The general manager of Dropshot Digbeth, an arcade bar in Birmingham, England, shared these images and footage online.
Page Six also reported that Jonas had been experiencing dissatisfaction within the marriage for an extended period and had made considerable efforts to salvage it. A source revealed, “Divorce was a last resort for Joe. He never wanted to break up his family, but he had to take what he felt was the best course of action for his girls.”
The insider added, “An unhappy home isn’t a home, and the truth is that he and Sophie were going through it this year,” emphasizing that the situation was not a sudden or impulsive decision.
Jonas’s divorce filing mentioned that their two daughters were primarily living with him leading up to the separation. In the legal documents, he described their marriage as “irretrievably broken.”
Despite the divorce filing, Jonas and Turner presented a united front just a day later by releasing a joint statement via their respective Instagram profiles. They announced, “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.”
They addressed the various speculations circulating in the media, emphasizing that their decision to divorce was a united one. They requested privacy “for us and our children.”
Turner and Jonas initially tied the knot in a Las Vegas elopement ceremony in May 2019, followed by a second wedding in France attended by close family and friends, including Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, and Maisie Williams.
The divorce filing acknowledged that the couple had signed a prenuptial agreement in April 2019. This agreement reportedly allowed Jonas to retain all his music royalties, while Turner retained any residuals from her acting career.
Joe Jonas enlisted the services of prominent celebrity attorney Tom Sasser, known for handling high-profile divorce cases like Tiger Woods’. As of now, the divorce has not been finalized.
