IVF, Heartbreak, And Public Scrutiny
Jennifer Aniston has faced decades of headlines about not starting a family.
The Friends star recently revealed the truth about her decision. At 56, she reflected on years spent trying and failing to have a child.
She admitted she threw “everything at it” but eventually had to accept defeat.
“I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it,” she told Allure.
“It was really hard. I was throwing everything at it.”
Her inability to conceive took an emotional toll, and she believes it even affected her marriage with Brad Pitt.
Refusing To Adopt
Unlike her ex-husband and Angelina Jolie, Aniston never considered adoption.
She admitted her preference might sound selfish to some critics.
“When people say, ‘But you can adopt,’ I don’t want to adopt,” she told the Armchair Expert podcast.
“I want my own DNA in a little person. That’s the only way, selfish or not. That’s what I’ve wanted.”
The actress insisted her refusal wasn’t bitterness but honesty about her personal dream.
She explained she reached a point where the situation was beyond her control.
“There’s literally nothing I can do about it,” she said.
Media Pressure And Taking Back Control
Throughout her career, speculation about her private life never stopped.
She was accused of being selfish, career-obsessed, and unwilling to start a family.
“They didn’t know my story,” she told Harpers Bazaar.
“They didn’t know what I’d been going through for 20 years to pursue a family.”
Aniston admitted the endless rumours hurt but insists the truth is hers alone.
“It does affect me. I’m just a human being. We’re all human beings,” she said.
In 2016, she fought back by writing an op-ed for The Huffington Post.
She wanted to represent women struggling silently with IVF.
“I knew a lot of women at the time dealing with the same issue,” she explained.
“It felt like it was not only for me, but for them too.”
Now older, Aniston no longer feels the need to defend herself.
“My family knows my truth, my friends know my truth,” she said.
She accepts people will always create a narrative, but she refuses to correct it anymore.
