James Van Der Beek is parting with some of his most iconic Dawson’s Creek treasures to help pay for his cancer treatment.
The 48-year-old actor has teamed up with Propstore to auction off clothing, props, and set pieces from the hit ’90s teen drama.
Van Der Beek played Dawson Leery for all six seasons of the show.
Dawson’s Creek ran from 1998 to 2003 and turned him into a pop-culture favourite.
Last November, the actor revealed he’d been diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.
Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine, he said: “I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family. There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good.”
He then posted an Instagram reel to share the news with fans.
He captioned it: “It is cancer… Each year, approximately 2 billion people around the world receive this diagnosis. And I’m one of them.

“There’s no playbook for how to announce these things, but I’d planned on talking about it at length with PEOPLE Magazine at some point soon… to raise awareness and tell my story on my own terms.
“But that plan had to be altered early this morning when I was informed that a tabloid was going to run with the news.”
Colorectal cancer is found anywhere in the large bowel.
Doctors warn early treatment is key to stopping the cancer spreading.
Iconic Dawson’s Creek Items Headed to Auction
Now, Van Der Beek is preparing to let go of some of his most nostalgic items.
Every dollar raised will help fund his treatment.
Propstore will sell the pieces during its Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction from December 5 to 7.
One of the most famous props is the necklace Dawson gave Joey for prom. The piece is expected to fetch between $26,400 and $52,800.
Dawson’s outfit from the pilot episode is also included. It’s estimated to sell for around $4,000.
Other set pieces and clothing from the beloved series will also be up for grabs.
The sale won’t be limited to Dawson’s Creek.

Fans can also bid on items from Van Der Beek’s 1999 movie Varsity Blues, including cleats and a West Canaan Coyotes hat.
The actor told PEOPLE: “I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now.
“While I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items, it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore’s auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years.”
Fans Can Bid From Anywhere
Bidders can register now.
Live, in-room bidding will be held in London on December 6. Online and global bidding will run until December 7.
