Francia Raisa Breaks Silence On Selena Gomez ‘Feud’ Rumors

Actress Francia Raisa has finally spoken out about the long-standing rumors of a feud with Selena Gomez.

The 37-year-old, who famously donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017, insists the supposed falling out was nothing but “rumors.”

“I’m Happy For Her”

In a recent interview filmed at a bookstore event, Raisa addressed Gomez’s marriage to producer Benny Blanco.

Speaking in Spanish, she wished her former roommate the best: “I know she’s getting married, and I’m very happy for her.”

She added: “She has a life, she is already a billionaire, and I am grateful I could do that for her.”

Raisa went on to emphasize that organ donation is about saving a life, not creating a lifelong bond.

“Doctors told me, from the beginning, it’s a donation. If you donate to St. Jude, you don’t call and ask what they did with your dollar,” she explained.

“It’s something nice I was able to do. I am grateful that I am alive and that I saved a life.”

When asked about past claims that she was “angry” with Gomez over her lifestyle after the transplant, Raisa dismissed it outright.

“Well, right now what you are asking me is nonsense that has been in the media,” she shot back.

“There are too many rumors. I’ve never said anything. When that rumor came out about me being angry, I wasn’t aware.”

She added: “No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. One day, maybe we will.”

The Kidney Surgery

Back in 2017, Gomez revealed she had lupus, a disease that weakens the immune system and attacks healthy organs.

Raisa stepped in as a donor, despite warnings from social workers about how tough recovery could be.

“They told me the recipient glows because they’re getting what they need, but the donor is losing something,” she recalled.

“And it was hard. Selena and I both went through depression after the transplant.”

The surgery nearly killed Gomez after one of her arteries burst mid-procedure.

Raisa showed scars across her stomach during a past interview, while Gomez was left with a large scar on her inner thigh.

In 2022, Gomez sparked headlines after telling Rolling Stone her “only friend in the industry” was Taylor Swift.

Raisa appeared to react by commenting “Interesting” under a post about it, though she later deleted it.

Gomez responded online: “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”

Despite the speculation, the pair later tried to clear the air.

In her Apple TV+ documentary Dear…, Gomez praised Raisa, saying: “I will never, ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia.”

Raisa has also stressed she wasn’t “forced” into the donation. “It came out of the kindness of my heart,” she said.

In December 2023, Raisa told USA Today the two had grown distant.

“We hadn’t spoken much in six years. Especially the last year, we didn’t speak at all,” she admitted.

“But we’ve never had beef. Nothing happened. We just needed that time apart. When you come back together, you’re better people.”

By her 35th birthday, the two reportedly made up.

In 2024, Raisa echoed those sentiments, telling E! News: “The best friendships can go a year without talking. Then you meet again, and it’s like no time passed.”

Not Part Of The Wedding Guestlist

Despite their renewed bond, Raisa was not seen at Gomez’s wedding to Blanco in September 2025.

The star-studded guest list included Taylor Swift, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Zoe Saldaña, Ed Sheeran, and Paris Hilton.

Fans noticed Raisa shared an Instagram video dancing with a choreographer on the same day, suggesting she was elsewhere.

Still, she insists she holds no grudges. “I’ve been super blessed ever since [the donation],” Raisa said on the Good Guys podcast.

The pair’s story remains one of the most famous examples of celebrity organ donation.

It’s also a reminder of the pressure and pain that can come with such a life-changing decision.

But despite years of rumors, Raisa insists the supposed feud is exaggerated.

“Look,” she said, “I am grateful I was able to do something good. That’s all that matters.”
