Fitness Influencers ‘Kicked Out of Gym’ after Mocking Man in ‘Gross’ Video

Fitness influencers Berna and Debbs, known for their TikTok presence, have recently faced significant backlash and repercussions following a controversial video they posted. In the video, which was captioned “Copying the weird man in the corner of the gym,” the pair were seen imitating a man’s workout routine, seemingly without his knowledge. The clip concluded with them laughing on the floor, which many viewers interpreted as them mocking the man.

This video quickly sparked outrage among the online community, with many users condemning the influencers’ actions. One viewer expressed their discomfort, saying, “This is why I’m scared of going to the gym.” The negative response was so overwhelming that Berna and Debbs temporarily made their TikTok accounts private, though they have since been made public again.

The situation escalated when fellow TikToker Noah Bermudez, who was among the first to criticize the video, shared an update on the aftermath. Bermudez revealed that he had received a message from Debbs, who attempted to clarify their intentions. “Since we were facing each other, we found it amusing,” the message read. “It was never meant to mock or make fun of him.” Debbs also mentioned that the video was widely misunderstood and that the situation had been ‘twisted’. She emphasized, “We’re willing to make a statement explaining our intent. We do not support bullying. Bullying is terrible.”

However, the controversy did not end there. Bermudez also received a message from a person claiming to be friends with the manager of the gym where the video was filmed. This message, shared in a screenshot by Bermudez, thanked him for bringing the incident to light. The gym’s manager reportedly contacted Berna and Debbs, stating that such videos were not tolerated. As a result, Bermudez announced that the women had been ‘kicked out’ of the gym.

Despite their claim of being willing to make a statement, as of now, Berna and Debbs have not issued a public apology for their actions in the video. The incident has sparked a broader conversation about gym etiquette, the responsibilities of influencers, and the impact of social media content on individuals’ perceptions and experiences in public spaces.

This situation serves as a reminder of the power and influence that social media personalities hold and the importance of using that platform responsibly. It also highlights the need for greater awareness and sensitivity towards others, especially in shared spaces like gyms, where people of all backgrounds and skill levels come to work on their fitness goals. The backlash and consequences faced by Berna and Debbs underscore the community’s growing intolerance for behavior perceived as mocking or bullying, particularly in a setting meant to promote health and well-being.
