Fans have been left heartbroken after Sam Smith’s latest health update.
The singer was set to headline Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena but was forced to cancel at the last minute due to health issues, just days after they cancelled their gig in Glasgow.
In a statement, they said: “Sailors, I am so sorry to let you know that my team and I are still really not well, so unfortunately we need to reschedule our Birmingham show to the Saturday 27th May 2023.
“It’s so important to me that we give you the very best version of Gloria. I don’t want you to experience it at anything less. Thank you so much for understanding, I know how excited everyone is to see the show, and I feel the same about seeing all of you.”
They confirmed that all tickets will be valid for the new date, and to go to their website for more details.
The singer was previously due to play in Glasgow on April 22, but issued a similar statement blaming a ‘virus’ that forced them to cancel.
“Myself and a lot of my team have been hit with a virus, that’s made us really unwell,” they said.
“I want to give you the best version of Gloria the tour and at the moment that’s not possible. It was also really important to me that we had another date to move this to straight away. We will celebrate Gloria together. All previous tickets are still valid for the new date.”
Fans have responded to the news with heartbreak, and have taken to social media to share their thoughts.
One person wrote: “So gutted as the new date I can’t go as I’m in Italy.”
Another said: “Absolutely gutted it’s my birthday and have hotel booked. Hope they gets well soon.”
While a third wrote: “Oh no! Get better soon Sam! I can’t make the rescheduled date, absolutely gutted, was so looking forward to it, but your health comes first.”
A fourth said: “Gutted Sam Smith has cancelled Birmingham’s gig tomorrow and then management rescheduled for Birmingham Pride weekend when loads of their fans gonna be busyyy.”
