Renowned YouTuber and tech reviewer Marques Brownlee has delved into this problem and shared his insights regarding the possible causes of iPhone 15 overheating.
While the iPhone 15 is hailed as Apple’s best iPhone yet, the overheating dilemma has raised questions among consumers.
One expert has proposed that the overheating issue might be attributed to the phone’s lightweight design.
This design choice, which aimed to reduce the phone’s weight, may have led to compromises in the thermal system’s design, potentially contributing to overheating problems.
On a different note, customers have received warnings against using Android USB-C chargers with the iPhone 15. Apple’s decision to abandon its iconic lightning cable in favor of USB-C has prompted concerns about compatibility.
However, Marques Brownlee offers a different perspective. He speculates that certain apps may be the culprits behind the overheating problem.
In a video review of the iPhone 15, he recounted his experience at a golf tournament in sweltering Florida heat. Despite using the phone extensively in high temperatures with GPS running at maximum brightness, he encountered no overheating issues.
It was only when he was on a plane, playing music on Spotify and scrolling through Instagram, that his phone started to overheat. Brownlee noted that Instagram was the top battery consumer, followed by Spotify, which consumed 15 percent of the battery.
Brownlee’s findings echoed those of other reviewers, including YouTuber iPhonedo, who observed that Instagram had a rapid overheating effect on the phone’s logic board. To mitigate this issue, iPhonedo recommended enabling low-power mode to prevent background apps from continuously refreshing.
Brownlee also suggested that short-term solutions might include bug fixes and app updates. Apple has since acknowledged the overheating problem and issued a statement explaining some of the underlying causes. According to the tech giant, the device may feel warmer in the initial days after setup due to increased background activity.
Apple also identified a bug in iOS 17 that is affecting certain users and promised to address it through a software update. Additionally, the company acknowledged that recent updates to third-party apps have been overloading the system, and they are actively collaborating with these app developers to roll out fixes.
In light of these developments, it appears that Apple is committed to resolving the overheating issue and plans to implement necessary fixes in an upcoming iOS update. While the iPhone 15’s overheating woes have raised concerns among users, the tech giant’s proactive response and collaboration with app developers signal a commitment to providing a smoother and more reliable user experience.
