Renowned tech mogul Elon Musk has once again made headlines, this time for the unique name of his third child with former partner Grimes. The 52-year-old billionaire, who recently orchestrated a $44 billion takeover of Twitter, rebranding it as “X,” revealed the exciting news about his growing family in his upcoming biography aptly titled “Elon Musk.”
Details surrounding the birth of their third child have been closely guarded, with the couple maintaining a level of privacy. Musk and Grimes, aged 35, are already parents to two children, known for their distinctive names. Their 1-year-old daughter is affectionately called Exa Dark Sideræl, lovingly nicknamed Y, while their 3-year-old son sports the unique name X Æ A-12.
Given their penchant for unconventional names, the moniker of their newest addition should hardly be surprising – Techno Mechanicus.
Despite their high-profile status, the couple, fondly referring to their child as “Tau,” has managed to shield their expanding family from the prying eyes of the public. The origins of Musk and Grimes’ romance trace back to 2018 when they first gained media attention for their budding relationship.
Their love story began when Musk, the visionary founder of Tesla, intended to craft a humorous tweet about artificial intelligence. To his astonishment, he discovered that Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, had already made a similar jest. This shared sense of humor laid the foundation for their relationship.
Their first child, X, was welcomed into the world in May 2020, followed by the birth of Exa Dark Sideræl in December 2021 through surrogacy. However, their relationship faced challenges, leading to their decision to part ways just months after the birth of their daughter.
Grimes took to Twitter (now known as X) to share her thoughts at the time, stating, “Me and E have broken up again since the writing of this article haha, but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now.”
As for their current relationship status, it remains unclear. Nevertheless, the couple was spotted together in Portofino, Italy, in July, accompanied by their son. Although they were not photographed together, the Daily Mail reported that they were staying at the same upscale hotel during their visit.
Musk’s 17-year-old son, Saxon, whom he welcomed during his previous marriage to Justine Wilson, also joined them on their Italian vacation.
Recently, Grimes used Twitter to make an emotional plea to reconnect with her son, addressing Musk in a since-deleted tweet, as reported by PageSix: “Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer. I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart.”
Elon Musk’s expanding family is diverse, as he now shares 11 children with three different women. Tragically, Musk and Wilson lost their first child, Nevada Alexander, to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in 2002. Following their loss, they welcomed twins, Griffin and Vivian, in 2004. In January 2006, the family expanded further with triplets: Kai, Saxon, and Damian. Two years later, Musk and Wilson divorced.
