Drake is making headlines for his strong response to controversial internet personality and self-proclaimed misogynist Andrew Tate, who recently made disparaging remarks about Canadian men.
The rapper, who proudly hails from Canada, didn’t hold back in addressing Tate’s comments, and the ensuing exchange has captured the public’s attention.
Tate’s remarks were delivered during an episode of his podcast, where he questioned the masculinity of Canadian men, saying, “Imagine being from Canada. Imagine saying I’m a man. ‘From where?’ ‘From Canada.’ What? That doesn’t go together. ‘What are you talking about? Wait. You’re a man? From Canada?’ Nah. Can’t be. ‘No, no, I’m a man.’ You’re not, bruv. Of course not. There’s no men in Canada. F***ing joking.”
These comments from Tate, who is currently awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking, indicated that he has a particular view of masculinity that Canadian men don’t meet.
Drake, on the other hand, did not let these comments slide. In response to a clip from Tate’s podcast, the rapper left a cryptic comment: “green light.” In colloquial terms, “green light” is often used to convey the idea of authorizing an attack, or encouraging others to criticize or take action against a person who has slighted them.
This is not the first time Tate has taken a swipe at Drake. Earlier in the year, he criticized the rapper for his choice of pink nail polish, tweeting, “There’s a reason I deny meeting all the famous people who try to meet me.”
It’s worth noting that Tate, along with his brother Tristan, faced charges in June, alongside two Romanian female suspects, related to human tr*fficking, r*pe, and the formation of a criminal gang for the s*xual exploitation of women. The accused parties have denied these allegations.
Meanwhile, Drake has been in the spotlight for reasons other than his social media exchanges. The renowned artist recently announced his intention to take a break from making music following the release of his album, “For All The Dogs.”
During an episode of the SiriusXM series “Table for One,” Drake opened up about his decision: “I probably won’t make music for a little bit. I’m going to be real with you. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost, and I’ll talk about that soon enough. Nothing crazy… I want people to be healthy in life, and I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach. I’m just saying what it is. So, I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right, and I’m going to do that. I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on. So, I’m going to lock the door in the studio for a little bit. I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer.”
Drake’s decision to prioritize his well-being has garnered support from his fans, and it underscores the importance of taking care of one’s physical and mental health, even in the fast-paced world of the entertainment industry. As the rapper embarks on this hiatus, his admirers eagerly await his return, whenever that may be, as they continue to appreciate his musical talents and his candidness in addressing personal challenges.
