Billionaire Dies During Penis Enlargement Surgery, Doctors Face Lifetime Medical Ban

Two surgeons have been banned from practicing medicine after a billionaire patient died during a cosmetic procedure in Paris.

The case centers on the death of Ehud Arye Laniado. Laniado suffered a heart attack while undergoing a penis enlargement operation.

The procedure took place at the Saint-Honore-Ponthieu aesthetic clinic in Paris. Laniado, a prominent diamond dealer and owner of Omega Diamonds, was receiving injections intended to increase penis size.

He died during the appointment, prompting an investigation into the circumstances.

Guy H, a well-known cosmetic surgeon at the clinic, led the practice. Reports indicate Laniado had previously undergone procedures there two to four times a year.

The billionaire had regular penis enlargement appointments

These appointments reportedly cost tens of thousands of euros and were sometimes scheduled outside regular office hours.

Court ruling and criminal investigation

Following Laniado’s death, French authorities examined possible criminal charges. Investigators considered allegations including manslaughter, failure to assist a person in danger, drug-related offences, and practicing medicine without a license. The inquiry focused on the response time and medical decisions made during the emergency.

On January 28, a Paris court suspended Guy H’s medical license. He received a 15-month prison sentence. Another surgeon present during the operation was handed a 12-month suspended sentence.

According to Le Parisien, both men were permanently banned from practicing medicine. The court also imposed financial penalties. Guy H was fined €50,000, while the second surgeon received a €20,000 fine.

Questions over emergency response

A source told Le Parisien that investigators quickly ruled out the injection itself as the direct cause of death. Attention instead turned to the timing of emergency calls. The surgeon reportedly made an initial call for assistance at 8 p.m., followed by a second call to the fire department two hours later.

In court, the defendant claimed the first call concerned Laniado’s behavior. The billionaire allegedly insisted on continuing injections despite complaining of abdominal pain. The defense argued that the symptoms did not clearly indicate a heart problem.

A source said it was difficult to identify a cardiac emergency because the patient had a history of ulcers. The surgeon reportedly attempted CPR when Laniado’s condition worsened. However, efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

The surgeon’s lawyer questioned the prosecution’s approach. He argued that cardiac incidents can occur in many settings. He suggested the event could have happened anywhere, not solely in a clinical environment.

Industry reaction and broader scrutiny

An anonymous Paris-based practitioner commented on the case. The source suggested that the outcome would cause concern within high-end cosmetic surgery circles. They added that rule-bending is sometimes alleged in elite clinics.

The case has drawn attention to regulatory oversight in cosmetic medicine. It also highlights the risks associated with elective enhancement procedures.

Authorities have confirmed that both surgeons are barred from further medical practice.
